“A fabulous cottages with wildlife on the doorstep.”
Reviewed 23 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This cottage is very well equipped house which has all that a family would require for a very comfortable stay. The local food shop in Kilchoan is 30 minutes away fort William about 1:20 and there is a good Co-op on in Tobermory. As wildlife enthusiasts the added attraction of Pine Martins, Red deer in the garden was a very big draw and they did not disappoint. We saw the pine Martins on 4 nights and the deer on 4 occasions during the day casually in the garden. Easy access to Mull via the ferry from Kilchoan and to plenty of local walking this for us was a perfect house in a great location.

Thanks very much for leaving this great review. Its reassuring to hear that the wildlife is thriving and no doubt enjoying the odd snack from our guests! Thats a good point about the coop in Tobermory which is often overlooked by visitors but the ride to Kilchoan followed by the ferry trip to mull makes for a much more exciting shopping trip. Also worth mentioning the well stocked Salen Jetty Shop which is just a six mile drive.

“Great base to enjoy the area”
Reviewed 7 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

For wildlife enthusiasts or photographers it's a great base. The cottage is well equipped. Kitchen fully functional, bedrooms comfortable and an open lounge. Gardens reach the loch and part are tidal channels. Pine Marten visited every day, from morning throughout the night. Sit and watch from the lounge or set up cameras and take some shots. Otters appears randomly along the coast so keep a sharp eye. A short drive north west and you're in the hills, white tailed and golden eagle can been seen cruising up high. Kilchoan offers regular ferry services to Mull. There's so much beautiful scenery you'll be spoilt for choice. Roads are very narrow so speeds are low. If you want to enjoy Ardamurchan this cottage affords a great base.

Thanks very much for taking the time to leave this informative review. I know that you were keen to view pine marten and other wildlife and I am pleased to see that you achieved this. The pine martens are pretty reliable but otters, although numerous are far more elusive.
I hope that you will return to Ardnamurchan one day, it has that effect on people!

Thank you so much for taking time to review Loch View Cottage, its great to hear that the local wildlife is thriving.
Worth mentioning on the shopping front is the Salen Jetty shop, 6 miles away and often missed but great coffee and cakes and even fresh fish once a week.
You will always be welcome at Loch View Cottage and we hope that you will return in future years.

“A little slice of heaven”

We found Loch View Cottage through a personal recommendation from a friend who had stayed there a number of times - we weren't disappointed.

The cottage itself was deceptively spacious, clean, tidy, comfortably furnished and very well equipped (there was even a proper steel for sharpening the knives). Lovely framed photos of the area on the walls inspired you to get out and explore, although in reality we didn't need much encouragement as that's what we'd gone for.

We were exceptionally lucky with the weather so only lit the log burner on the first evening (and suddenly found ourselves too warm). The rest of the week, a little blast from the central heating first thing in the evening was all that was needed to spend a cosy evening in watching the pine marten and red deer who came to feeders each day. The entertainment value of those alone meant that we only watched the TV once during the whole week, but if you do fancy a DVD one evening, there is a huge selection in the cottage.

Do take a wander down to the loch and have a sit on the rocks (watch the tide), there's a certain amount of hopping over the burn or the channels that crisscross the garden as the jetty is out of use, but it's a beautiful place to just sit and reflect.

And the skies, oh the skies at night - the only other time I have seen the Milky Way that clearly was in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea whilst crewing a yacht.

Ardnamurchan itself is remote and wild and wonderfully quiet. The locals are really friendly to the extent that I was starting to think they were confusing me with someone given all the cheery waves when giving way on the well-maintained single track roads.

A lovely touch was a phone call from Allan on the second night of our stay to make sure we had settled in and had everything we needed. Thank you.

“A stay at loch View = Heaven”
Reviewed 7 October 2016 for a stay in May 2014

Have stayed at this cottage on quite a few holidays and was never disappointed .
The cottage itself ,cosy ,warm with every facility needed......the main point of interest is most definitely the picture window in the lounge .
The animals and wildlife that can be seen out of that window is fantastic ! could hardly tear myself away in case I missed anything. Pine Martens visiting most nights and daytime activity too ,Deer wandering and feeding in the garden ,chance of spotting an otter ,Eagles and a wonderful variety of garden birds .Be prepared to bring extra bird food (as the deer often steal it !).
The garden open and spacious ,very inviting for any dog to play ,leads down to the Loch Sunart ......which is a marvellous view ,access to the loch is via a jetty here if you are lucky enough to have a boat or kayak etc.
The peace and tranquillity can not be bought , this is definitely a holiday that will refresh and recharge your batteries.
If you can tear yourself away from the cottage ,there are loads of options for walks ,trips and days out .All of which Alan and Fiona provide information on.
