Came across this place thanks to trip advisor after finding our intended eating establishment was closed. I think we were lucky the other place was closed as The Sawley Arms was fantastic. The place itself was nice and cosy, very smartly decorated and with very attentive staff. The food was fantastic. We all opted for the roast beef and it was very well cooked and came with an assortment of vegetables, roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy. I had the apple crumble pudding and that too was absolutely lovely. £15 for the roast and another fiver for the pud, only slightly more expensive than your chain pubs but the quality was far far superior. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

What a great lunch I had with my brother and son!
This is top quality food served in a lovely pub.
Don't confuse this with normal pub food, as soon as to read the menu you'll know this is going to be special and it is!

Called today for lunch after visiting Fountains Abbey. What a great find, lovely place staff very friendly and open fires just what you need at this time of the year. The food was excellent, my wife had the fish pie which she said was the best she had ever had. I had the game pie from the specials board which was a great choice. Pastry was divine filling fantastic and piping hot. The gravy on the side was to die for. Just wished I didn’t live 40 miles away because I would be there every week.

Had a lovely lunch for 4 with starters all the food was excellent. We would highly recommend the restraunt. Service was very polite and helpful all the way from making the booking, changing it being late and to the point of leaving. Thank you for the welcome.

Had a most excellent Roast Beef and Yorkshires here today. Beef done to perfection, lovely roast potatoes done properly, delicious vege. Deserts were lovely - interesting versions of common desserts. Just a delight.

Three good real ales on tap- Timmy Taylor’s and Theakston’s. The TT Boltmaker was great.

There is a lovely atmosphere in the pub and service was excellent. This will definitely become a regular place to visit.
