To add to Trevor's review below (we travelled together), JP and Gina should be complimented on the comfortable layout of the guest rooms. Everything has been carefully thought out - space for luggage, wardrobe, clothes stand, table, sofa (which can be converted into a spare bed). The bed was comfortable, and long enough for us, both over six feet tall. The shower was very roomy, water pressure is excellent, and hot water plentiful. The complimentary toiletries and all the linens are top quality.
The gardens are thoughtfully planted and beautifully landscaped, and the bar is ideally situated with a lovely view across the bay.
Gina, JP and their staff are incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and we would return in a heartbeat!

Greetings from MayLaka Janet,

We are glad you and Trevor enjoyed your stay with us and your exploration of our (claimed to be still "undiscovered paradise") island. We indeed recall the conversation we over breakfast, on your first day with us, about "real tourists" maybe getting disappointed in the lack of infrastructure usually found in more developed tourist spots. As you have experienced yourself, Biliran Island still has to go a long way before becoming a popular tourist spot, but as you have also stated, this is maybe what makes this "off the beaten track" island more attractive to those whom want to escape the more common popular tourist traps.

When entering the grounds of Maylaka, we have tried very hard to create a tranquil, exclusive, comfortable and safe environment to stay, relax and enjoy a cool drink or a tasty meal and reading your comments, we seem to have succeeded. Your flattering comments are definitely a further encouragement for our entire team and us to continue improving our facilities and services and keep delighting our guests. The best reward for all our efforts is seeing a happy guest and we are pleased you belong enjoyed your stay.

Till maybe we meet again should you decide to visit us in the future, it would be our pleasure to be your host again.

Best regards,
G&JP

What a lovely place! JP and Gina have gone the extra mile to ensure MayLaka is a little bit of luxury in an unspoiled part of the Philippines. The staff are brilliant and make sure you are well looked after from check-in to check-out and the food is very, very good. Don't be fooled into thinking Biliran is a quiet backwater with nothing to offer the visitor. You can hire a moped or motorbike and tour the island. Rent a van and driver to be shown the waterfalls and hot springs. Hire an outrigger with crew for the day and take off and see the islands. The receptionists at MayLaka have all the contact details. Just ask. We had a wonderful week relaxing here and enjoying the Philippines off the beaten track. Simply wonderful!

Thank you by the way for having sent us the descriptives and pictures of local birds. Most of them we see them daily and sometimes we forget how blessed we are that may of them choose to nest on our grounds.

Till maybe we meet again should you decide to visit us in the future, it would be our pleasure to be your host again.

I was here with my family and friends from Canada. It wasn't easy to find a hotel that would meet the standards of my friends. We tried visiting all over Calubian area and Biliran Island for hotels and resorts and it was a relief to find Maylaka.

As soon as we got there we felt the professional service of the staff. Kristy of the reception is pleasantly entertaining us.

The hotel is clean and maintained well.
The garden is beautiful. Great landscapes.
The infinity plunge pool is romantic and inviting with the beautiful view of the beach and Calubian Island.
This hotel has 5 security guards!

You will be delighted with the breakfast, Vines and Cocos restaurant flavors. Chefs are great. They have variety of food from Filipino foods to American/European with some of our favorite attentive staffs like Bernadette, Denver, Rey, Earl and the rest of the staffs.

The entire staff was friendly and incredible. They are always attentive to our needs above and beyond consistency. The young woman who cleaned after us everyday was another person who certainly needs to recognized.

The best that this resort has to offer was the owner. They were very genuine who seemed to honesty want to do whatever they could improve our vacation. Very informative and attentive :)

We enjoyed our stay. What you expect you will get! We came there as a guest, we left as friends... JP and Gina, WELL DONE.. We are definitely coming back here! :)

Thank you Aileen for your very positive comments.

It always humbles us to read the impressions our little Vanuatu leaves on our guests, we consider your very flattering comments an encouragement to continue our efforts to make the MayLaka experience even better.

Very happy you liked your stay with us and we would be pleased to welcome you again on one of your next trips to Biliran Island.

Warm regards from the entire MayLaka Team.

Last April 29, 2016, we have been to Maylaka for the 3rd time to privately celebrate my Mother's birthday and, for the nth time, we made our guests gasped with awe with the beautiful place of Maylaka. Not only is the place very inviting but the owners and personnel also contribute to the whole magic that is Maylaka. It is the only boutique hotel in Biliran Province right now that is an added attraction to tourists, local and foreigners. I will always come back to this place and will always be proud to show it off to our family guests, relatives, and friends.

Thank you for your positive comments. We are extremely pleased with your flattering comments about our little Vanuatu. Yur words are a definite encouragement for the MayLaka team to continue striving for excellence in accommodation, service and food. Since your last visit, we have introduced a new menu in Vines including an extensive choice of Filipino dishes, as well as French and Italian, and are now also having an afternoon tea or coffee option now, while our openign days have been extended from Thursday to Sunday 12pm to 10pm contineously. Also CoCos (open daily 11am to 10pm) has a new menu, though many of its favorites have been retained. Hope we are able to wleocme you back again soon to MayLaka.
