Doolin Sunset would be great for folks seeking interesting banter with locals (Martin and Carmel are very gregarious), are traveling by car (free and ample parking) and perhaps with younger children (babysitting services and a play area), and are not concerned with being further away from the town center (make sure you have the GPS coordinates of the place). There are more reviews on booking.com, so you might want to check that site out as well for this B&B.
My father, brother, and I had a good stay there. It is 3 miles out from the town, which we were not expecting (we've been booking the night before each stay and with limited wifi connection and time, have not been crazy thorough with our research). We did not have the GPS coordinates for the B&B so we called and Carmel offered to have her son come meet us at the Church and show us the route, which was very sweet. We ended up being escorted by her elderly parents and young son.
The room was nice, clean, and well heated; the bathroom spacious. The breakfast was hearty and made to order. Martin and Carmel were very attentive. There are animals on the grounds, which is always fun--dogs and roosters and hens. The rooster crows in the morning but we didn't notice it. Martin pens him up far from the house. Great views looking down over the town and the Atlantic. I wish I had taken a photo of the sunset.
Things to consider:
1) If you want to be able to walk to the local pubs, this would not be a good place to book at, since it is 3 miles out.
2) If you're driving back to the B&B at night, be sure to have GPS or international data service, because you may have trouble finding your way there.
3) If you're more introverted or looking for more solitude, the chatty hosts may be a bit more challenging.
4) Watch your head in the upstairs room. Carmel warned me to watch my head but later that evening, I hit my head rather hard on the ceiling where the roof juts in. I am short and usually aware of my surroundings but I was also tired so my head was sore for a few days afterwards.
