The Doolin House is a nice way to learn about the history of Irish music. Christie Barry, one of Ireland's premier flute players, opens up his home to share his love of Irish music. Although I would have preferred more music and less oral history, my husband, who loves music and history, found it fascinating. Christie's wife provides some lovely smoked salmon, cheeses and wine for all to enjoy. A nice evening.

The accommodations are clean and simple. Nothing fancy here but the owner is incredibly helpful. He greeted us when we arrived and gave us advice for dinner later. The beds were comfortable and the surrounding hillsides and sea relaxing. The breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared.

We stayed for one night in early October. Our room was pretty basic but the bed was firm and comfortable. There was lots of space but the "wardrobe" area was a walk-in area with a few wire coat hangers on a pole. I've never known an electric shower where you switch it on in the bed room then rush into the bathroom where the water has already started. Also, the hot and cold taps were the wrong way round. Breakfast was excellent.

This was the only B&B we stayed in on our 15 day trip to Scotland and Ireland that we did not have to climb countless stairs to get to our room. This B&B has some rooms on the first floor with easy in your door access. We had very nice rooms with lots of hot water and large bathrooms and showers. Not often found in the older B&B's. Breakfast was good and all was clean and neat.

Room Tip: Good place for handicap people if needed.

We booked this place 1 1/2 months in advance on booking.com; however, 3 days before our stay we got a message via email saying they had to cancel due to "unforeseen circumstances". So, we had to take time out of our vacation to scramble to book another place.
