It is so liberating to go to a restaurant where the kids can have anything off the menu without paying through the nose or being offered the usual (horrible) chicken nuggets selection. The staff in the Doolin Cafe offer top quality, healthy options. Today the particular favourites were the wasabi mushy peas and the lamb shank. The Doolin Cafe is the first place I think of when I want to eat good food and today was no exception. I would not hesitate to bring and send anyone looking for an excellent meal here.

When the sun stays out until 11:00 PM in the summer time, it's easy to get confused about what time it is while your out viewing the Cliffs of Moher. This happened to us and we found ourselves hungry at 10:00 PM and without a place to dine. All of the pubs and restaurants in town close promptly at 10:00. Once we discovered this, we raced back and forth to each place, praying someone was still open. We found the Doolin Café, which is super cute, and they were just getting ready to close. The sweet waitress went to the chef and asked if he could make us a sandwich to-go, and he so nicely helped us out!! We were so very grateful to them....we would have been starving all night long! The sandwich just so happened to be delicious!! Then to make it EVEN better, he made us each a side of chips that were the best we've ever had!!! Thin little strips of fresh cut potatoes, that were perfectly salted with sea salt! So so good!! Thank you to the Doolin Café and the sweet folks who work there for not only helping us when we got in a bind, but also having delicious food!!

Just called in for a quick lunch and stayed for much of the afternoon. What a lovely place to idle an afternoon away in Ireland it is too. Beautiful home cooked (kids loved seeing the chef popping out to pick thyme growing in the pot next to our table!) lunch with some lovely touches (home made ketchup and chutneys). We even bought a tee-shirt so that we could truly say it..........You'd be missing out if you didn't pop in on the way to see the Doolin Stalactite! Enjoy!
