We arrived in Plymouth early evening & decided to break our journey home with an overnight stay near to Bath.
The welcome was warm & friendly. We were shown to our lovely, spacious & clean room. A quick change & we headed to the cosy bar. Great service & a good range of gins in balloon glasses.
For dinner we chose to share the Chateaubriand - a great choice! Very well prepared & presented & accompanied by a visit from the chef to our table to ensure it was acceptable! It certainly was! A lovely evening with attentive & friendly staff enhancing some great food.
The bed was extremely comfortable & the breakfast equally good.
Highly recommend it & will return. We didn’t try the spa.

Just like previous reviewers we were thoroughly disappointed in our stay.

Booked for special birthday weekend, with spa treatment. Husband was told we’d be upgraded etc because of event. When we got there, complete lack of enthusiasm by reception at our arrival plus vague memory of us asking if we could stay an extra night...they hadn’t replied so we’d presumed not but we were booked in. Were given Room 1...old, dirty upholstery, dark, smelled of damp, could barely fit one of us in bathroom ...don’t know where to start. I was so upset and just wanted to come home..husband tried to make best of a bad job...after two alternative room offers, we found a room that was ok but just! Spa treatment and therapist was good but spa itself was dirty.
Couldn’t get service in bar for love nor money and cocktails were a no-no...despite happy hour (irony?)...no ingredients or no one who knew how to make them!

Food was great...hurray... and we were out all day so no issue there.

We decided not to stay extra night but after negotiating not to pay for this with new manager, Neil Glasspool, who was professional, weary with what he’d inherited but lovely, we discovered they’d only owned it for two weeks. They also own Number 15 in Bath...gorgeous...and clearly have great plans for this place. It could...and no doubt will be amazing...in 2 years time!

In the meanwhile my suggestions are...make it clear on website that there has been a takeover...perhaps offer some good cheap deals to get bodies in beds. Do something about the star rating...not even 3 star by comparison in current state...be honest and avoid flack! We heard two other people complaining and there was mass grizzling in the spa!

Will we return...mmm...not in the immediate future ...but will keep an eye on this place..it has potential to be fab in a few years time.

Room tip: Room 14 had a great view of garden...avoid Room 1!

Booked a junior suite at over £400 per night for 2 nights over the Aug BH. Wanted to book for a spa treatment but when asked was advised no availability either Sat or Sun.... Arrived and pleased with the room, lovely bathroom but damp on the wall and mildew on the curtains. Overlooking the spa, filled with loud hen party and no space to enter the spa! Decided to go for cream tea, asked the waiting staff and reply was “ well, umm looking at watch ( implying too late at 16:00) but finally agreed and did get a lovely cream tea. Had booked into the restaurant for dinner - slow service but nice food, which was the theme for everything we did. Often no one in the bar, or in reception. Had to complain 4 times over the 2 days as the TV didn’t work. Clearly understaffed Woken at 6am on the first day but children running around in the room above, and 7am the next day by very heavy footsteps. Did use the spa, but no staff visible to ask if we wanted any drinks etc, and in fact when one of the staff did visit, she laughed and asked if we knew where the phone was in the spa as someone previously had phoned reception to get some drinks. When she returned she admitted that the guest had used their mobile to phone the reception!! Weren’t given access to the lockers in the spa until I spoke to the manager - although the spa is complimentary to guests this doesn’t include the lockers - seeing as there are no safes in the rooms this is ridiculous.... eventually given access to a locker. Did complain at checkout, and manager agreed to discount our bill by not charging for a bottle of wine - thoroughly inadequate £30.00 discount when paying over £800 for a 2 night stay.... I expected a stay worthy of the price- vastly overpriced.... I will not be returning. Ample opportunities given to the staff to make this right, but failed at every step.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a fantastic stay at Homewood - the new management were superb and could not have looked after us better.

I'm not sure where to begin.
•The room having flies
•The bath having no running water.
•The staff seeing this as an inconvenience to them.
•The door lock not working.
•Disorganised staff and oblivious to our concerns which made us feel uncomfortable during our stay.
Ordered a bruschetta and it came with no bread..(I'm not joking) was just chopped tomatoes.
The staff was very unhelpful with the situations and were unprofessional when I tried to discuss the problems.
The advert stated we would get a small garden terrace which was ideal as we brought our small dog, though what we wernt aware was that it was shared with the other room next door.
We rented the most expensive room and had to degrade just to get running water and instead what we received was an infested room.
I would not recommend this place to anyone especially for the price we had to pay.
I have no idea how they have managed to get the rating they have.

Our stay had to be cut short due to the room been infested with flies, we travelled a long distance to come to this hotel and were severely disappointed in what we encountered and hope this does not happen to anyone else.
