Lovely decor successfully marrying traditional and modern, delicious fresh food, delightful and prompt service. Couldn't fault it in any way. There's nothing pretentious about it – just the best of authentic Italian cuisine, presented attractively without any fuss. They even did a special pasta dish requested by our friends that wasn't on the menu. The wine was good too, and the waitress was keen to know what we thought of it alongside the dishes we'd chosen – lovely to see that sort of interest in customers' experience. We've been twice, in successive years, during short stays with friends in Montecchio. We would have loved to have eaten here more times, but the restaurant happened to be closed (perhaps to do with the olive harvest) for the first part of our most recent stay. This forced us to try a couple of other establishments nearby which did not match up at all to the standard of Il Fontanile (and yet were bizarrely more full). I just hope Il Fontanile keeps going and that we can go there again next year.
