It was pretty hard to find Ballyvolane on a cold rainy day in Ireland as it is far out in the countryside, but the hospitality that greeted us when we arrived was warm. We had a lovely dinner with Jenny serving, and she did a great job. We enjoyed meeting some other folks from England and exchanging stories between the other guests and our "American" contingent. The breakfast was delicious, and I agree with a previous reviewer that the eggs are the best you will eat anywhere! The only thing to be aware of is that the nicer rooms at Ballyvolane only have bathtubs, and the two rooms with the shower accommodations are the least desirable rooms they have. If you can make do with a tub, I would recommend you book one of those types of rooms as mine was large and lovely while the rest of our party who preferred showers were in the smaller, less desirable rooms. But the Ballyvolane experience is definitely unique, and I expect Justin and Jenny will just continue to succeed. Bravo!

FABULOUS!!!! This was by far the best place we stayed at in Ireland, and perhaps ever! The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, comfortable, and at once contemporary as well as traditional.

Justin and Jenny are terrific hosts, who with their gorgeous children, lend an air of ease to this charming location. But unlike other places we stayed at--also members of Hidden Ireland, this place felt professionally run, was exceptionally clean, and had fantastic service.

Dinner was with the other guests, and was lovely, delicious and really fresh. Breakfasts were heavenly with the freshest eggs we'd ever tasted.

We would go back to Ireland just to stay there again. Simply divine.

Ballyvolane House was without doubt the most charming, beautiful, warm and inviting place we had the pleasure of staying in in Ireland, a real treat made all the more special by its charming hosts, Jeremy and Merrie. The comfort, warmth and delicious food befits a visit any time of year, but the gardens were particularly special when we visited in spring. We did some fishing too and not knowing the river (Blackwater) at all, we would never have caught a salmon without our ghillie, who showed us round all the essential lies and runs on our beat. A highly recommended, relaxing and idyllic location from which to explore Ireland.

Thanks for the review and for staying with us. I am delighted you had a good time. The fishing is improving all the time now the drift nets at sea have been banned. I hope you will come and see us again. Best wishes, Justin
