Owner description: Voted No. 3 In the Top 10 Gardens of the World - by National Geographic! One of the world's great Gardens, Powerscourt is situated 20km south of Dublin City Centre in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains. The Garden was begun by Richard Wingfield in the 1740's and stretches out over 47 acres. It is a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, and ornamental lakes together with secret hollows, rambling walks, walled gardens and over 200 varieties of trees and shrubs. The House was gutted by fire in 1974 but recently has been reborn as an exceptional tourist destination. An audio visual brings to life the rich history of the Estate, while the double height Georgian Ballroom has been restored and hosts wedding and special events. The House is now home to the best in Irish design in gifts, clothes and furniture in the Avoca Stores and Interiors Gallery. Treat yourself to lunch at the Terrace Cafe where you can enjoy exceptional food, from each loaf of Irish bread to Mediterranean tarts or extraordinary salads. Come and explore all that Powerscourt House & Gardens has to offer, there's something for everyone from little explorers to garden enthusiasts!

Very relaxing place to visit. Nice break from Dublin City. Give yourself at least two hours if not more to see all of the sights. Audio guide is included in price of ticket to enter grounds and provides overview of each place of interest as well as the option fior children to take part in activities. If you are on a budget take 44 Dublin bus to Enniskerry and the grounds are a 15-20 minute walk away.

“Gorgeous!”

My partner and I spent a few hours at the gardens before our flight home from Dublin (35 mins away by car on the M50). There is a stunning view of Sugar Loaf mountain from the top of the gardens behind the house. The layout of the gardens is so easy to explore, and we managed to see everything in our short visit (but could have spent all day there, and plan to when we return). Can't recommend this highly enough if you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to explore outside of the city. There is a garden centre, café, an AVOCA, an interior decor shop and dolls' palace too, adjacent to the gardens.
So lovely. Powerscourt Hotel, Spa, golf course and waterfall next!

“Easy to get around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I decided to visit these gardens on the spur of the moment. I had no walking shoes but that was the great thing about Powerscourt Gardens; the footpaths were brilliant. I got to see every part of the grounds and could move around with ease. It was not a struggle to get to see anything. I loved the long drive up passed the Hotel; it had a "grandeur" feeling about it. The gardens were magnificent and the trees and landscape are well looked after. I was impressed with the layout of the grounds. I loved with the rose garden and all the beautiful scents. I was annoyed to see people taking cuttings, even though it specifically says "Don't"

I go to Powercrt regularly . Love the gardens which are utterly spectacular . Brought my teenage nephew at weekend and he loved it . The weather was dreaful but he was taken by its beauty and the history . The fact he got some night treats in the small shops on the premises also no doubt put a smile on his face . Highly recommend it on all seasons and very accessible .
