My family and I had a lovely stay in the Falls Hotel. We really loved its convenience to the town which has some great cafes. The swimming pool and hot tub are fantastic. My children really liked the babysitter whom the hotel recommended to us. All of the hotel staff we encountered were extremely nice, friendly and helpful.

Fancy exterior, outdated interior. We first got a room on a lower floor, it smelled like mold. The staff was accommodating and quickly let us swith to another room. The bathroom is from the 80s and the SPA gives no ”spa feeling” at all. The restaurant overlooking the river serves quite good food. Nice surroundings and fun with the donkeys by the parking area!
Ok the one night we stayed there and perfect location for visiting Cliffs of mohare.

The hotel is located directly on a river and there are beautiful waterfalls nearby and visible from the hotel. The front desk staff were helpful and the restaurants for breakfast and dinner were very good, again with excellent staff.

Our room, however, was undistinguished and underwhelming for what we paid for it. In addition, there are cigarette machines (!) in the lobby and on the floor below, where breakfast is served. This is a non-smoking hotel, but (a) people smoke immediately next to the front door and smoke comes into the lobby and (b) people where smoking on my floor.

Tips: (1) There have been many additions to this hotel over time and some rooms may be nicer than the ones we had; (2) book spa appointments well in advance; (3) the pool and spa area are outstanding; (4) the Falls is a 20 minute drive to the cliffs of Mohar; (5) it's a 3 minute walk from the hotel to the town of Ennistymon, which is a cool town with great food, coffee, tea and pub options--in addition to a number of art galleries.(6) Falls is two miles away from the beach/surf town of Lahinch and there is a wide, safe bike/pedestrian path connecting the two. I walked from the Falls to Lahinch and back and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Choose rooms (and sections of the hotel) carefully. Some rooms are much older than others.

It is clear to anyone that this majestic hotel had once been a jewel. It is also clear that that was a long time ago.

The decor it very outdated - and not in the 'classic' way. Some areas like the entrance, the breakfast lounge and reception is beautiful, but this is compromised by the sparsely decorated bedrooms with minimal facilities (no coffee/tea, phone is ancient and gave trouble, big room but felt empty, cheap hard pillows).

The breakfast was especially average. Powder eggs instead of scrambled eggs was terrible. The cold buffet options were tasty though, and the staff was friendly.

The hotel is generally clean and shows signs of its previous golden years. With a little bit of renovation and updating I hope it'll one day be restored to its former glory. For now- I would have to say it as a pretty average stay.
