We visited the Baratra seashore with a group of adult organic students last summer led by Oonagh and sampled the wild kitchen products which was the treat of a lifetime.
The unity of sea land and wilderness is so thoughtfully captured with Oonaghs skills of identification food preperation and gentle storytelling.
A real multisensory experience.
We'll done!

Oonagh is so knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. Learners on our training programme learnt so much in a short space of time. One of the learners took home a bag of seaweed to have a bath with when she got home. Take pen and paper to make notes. At the end of the walk we dined out on dulse, dilsk, seagrass, rosehip, organic pesto and humous which she made herself with local pickings, organic salad with elderflower champagne, dilsk crisps which she made herself all hand picked from Barratra beach, a rocky shore line near Lahinch. Fantastic day with a woman who was so passionate and knowledgeable about the shoreline and hedgerows.

What a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. We met oonagh and headed off down barratra. What a beautiful part of the country. Oonagh was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I would advise bringing pen and paper to soak up all the amazing tips from oonagh. I have had a seaweed bath from the seweed we picked and I feel amazing after it. I would highly recommend this trip.

Last year, I went for a wild food walk on the Burren with Oonagh, and loved it so much I had to do her seaweed walk this year. It was really lovely. Oonagh is really knowledgeable about wild food and its uses.

The seaweed walk took place at Bar Tra beach -- a rocky shore where seaweed abounds. The seawater is very clean there, and the seaweed is abundant. We found dulse, kelp, sugar kelp, wakame, and so much more (fossils in the rocks!).

Going on a walk with Oonagh is a unique tourist experience. At the end of our time together (I think it was at least two hours on the rocks), we dined al fresco on samosas, dulse, kelp, pesto and washed it down with really lovely elderbloom juice.

This is a must do!

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning about the different uses of all those hedgerow plants that I usually see but dismiss as weeds. Wow, they're so good for you. Oonagh tells of the age old uses & benefits of nettles, elders, rose petals & loads more. Then we got to the shore & learnt so much about the magical qualities of the different types of seaweed. I'm hooked & will definitely go back for more walks with my children. Oonagh is a great host, full of enthusiasm with an abundance of knowledge. I highly recommend her guided walks. There's something for everyone.
