We booked here for the last two nights of our stay in Ireland, also my mother's 80th birthday. The magnificent rooms with their wood-burning fireplaces and comfortable baths did not disappoint. And be sure to eat here; the food really is that good. And then after a wonderful dinner, there's no narrow Irish roads to negotiate getting home; it's just a short stroll up to your room, welcoming as it can be. I loved this place. It was a worthwhile splurge.
