Prior to the wedding i tried to make arrangements with the staff for an early check in. Thought they were a little off the tune for a 5* hotel. They were saying that the hotel was only half full the night before but could not guarantee an early check in. I was attending a wedding and had a 5 month old baby. They knew we were travelling for about 3 hours to get their for the wedding and offered us the spa facilities. I told them that my wife was still feeding the baby and that this would not be suitable. They would not change their stance. Found this a slightly bit annoying when I found out that they had given another couple (childless) a guranteed early check in.

Anyway, between the jigs and the reals they changed their stance (after many phone calls) and we got the early check in which we are eternally grateful for.

The room was excellent and everything that you would expect from a 5* hotel. Very comfortable indeed. There was a slight draft from an external door in the room that baby didnt like but it is a castle - nothing a few pillows and cushions couldnt sort out. The night staff also dropped down a mobile radiator just in case.

The function was amazing. The room is as you would expect from a castle with all the modern twists you would find in a modern venue.

The food was top class. Fillet of beef that was melt in your mouth.

The grounds of the castle are just spectacular and a nice walk in the morning to feed the ducks, chase a few peasants! and a stroll through the walled gardens. Amazing.

i think I'll be back with my golf clubs in the future as the course looks pretty good too.

Room Tip: From what I saw all the rooms are very nice. If you are attending a wedding ask for a room close to...

We stayed there in February 2012. The castle exterior and grounds were spectacular. We didn't play golf but I would love to there. The inside of the property was much more dated. The rooms and public areas could definitely use some updating. I think the biggest disappointment was the restaurant. What claimed to be award winning was probably our least favorite meals on the trip at the highest prices.

This was a truly beautiful place! The grounds are wonderfully manicured and I highly recommend the hawk walk. Where else would you be able to go on a walk with a falconry expert that lets you learn about these wonderful birds and they get to land on your hand too. The staff was wonderful, going out of their way to help you with even the smallest requests. Be prepared to spend some money, but it is a truly memorable place!!!

Room Tip: The floors in the castle are wood, so you can hear people walking down the hall past your room. If...

When you drive towards Dromoland it is very impressive (being a castle), staff are courteous and helpful. On downside bar is small and expensive as is the snack menu. If you are a golfer I would imagine it is a wonderful place as they have a golf club away from the main castle and the course looks good.

The rooms were ok, but astounded that there were no tea and coffee making facilities available in the room and I would imagine the cost of room service just to grab a coffee would be prohibitive.

Some of the grandeur of the castle is lost with suspended ceilings in eating areas. Another bar might be a plan as everything bar dining room et. all pushed into one corner of the hotel.

It is a truly lovely place but I think it could be improved.

We knew this would be an amazing weekend when we were told that we had the "Rapunzel Room" Room 501 in the castle tower! After 78 steps we entered a our room which was magnificent and really helped us take off calories after the wonderful dining we did at this spectacular hotel! I can't say enough about the professional, warm, helpful and attentive staff.
Breakfast was outstanding and made a great start to our day of touring and returning to the magnificent landscape of our nights stay. The best day was touring of the grounds and soaking in all that Dromoland Castle has to offer. The cart & trap carriage ride with Shawn was a highlight of our trip, sharing the history of the castle hotel and sharing his genuine pride of town & country.
Kudos to all the staff, at Dromoland Castle ,for making our stay the trip of royalty for two commoners.

Room Tip: If you have the legs...Room 501! The staff will take care of your suitcases but it is a hike up win...
