This place is amazing, they have made a really great museum and have all the tanks on display, you watch a video to tell you the story of the fort before commencing leisurely around the museum which took us about 90 minutes and then outside to the café for coffee etc.thoroughly enjoyed it.

Arrived when the main building was closed ,but you can still wander around and marvel at the old buildings ,be ready to climb a lot of steps to get to the top of the site ,but it is worth it

Be sure to wrap up warm if its a cold day. A great fort nestled up in Dunree with amazing views looking out into the water and surrounding land.

Not open during our visit even though there were about 20 cars in the car park so perhaps it should be open at the weekends even during winter? Lots of nice walks and stunning scenery with old buildings displaying amazing patina. Some of them are open so you can walk through the old military accommodation and see the old fireplaces etc. Some of the old guns and an armoured car are on display and accessible. Go behind the lighthouse to the viewing point which provides breathtaking views of the headland and sea.
