Came here recently for a refreshing winter walk. It was pouring down with rain the whole time but the views were still pretty spectacular. There's a number of different walks you can do, one slightly more strenuous than the others with a few steps to climb but the views at the top are worth it. Military guns/canons/tanks and information boards scattered around the walks. Plenty of picnic benches and shelters to enjoy the views should you get a better day than we did. Dogs allowed on the grounds. The museam was closed when we were there due to the Christmas holidays, €7 for adults entry. Even without doing the museam I would definitely recommend visiting the fort for a walk alone, it'll blow the cobwebs away for sure!

Beautiful view and scenery. If you are in the area it is definitely worth a stop in. Nice little museum and history of the fort and area.

One of the few remaining coastal look-out post along the Northern coastline. Remarkable scenery of the Swilly and the Fanad peninsula. Museum on site.

We went as an adult family group and everyone enjoyed the visit. The staff were wonderful and told us a great deal about the fort. There is an interesting film to watch which explains the history. The walk up the the top of the fort is quite steep and there are very few signs or explanations. The undergrowth has really taken over in places and it is difficult to know what you are looking at. Very little has been conserved and masonry lies where is has fallen along with roof timbers and other stuff.
The views are absolutely stunning across Lough Swilly.
