We had to rearrange to stay in this hotel due to work commitments. Originally booked for November 2022, and subsequently rescheduled for January 2023. From the outset, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Arrived Tuesday 3rd January, before official ckeck-in time, and as I had already pre-booked in, everything was ready for us. Our room was spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable, toiletries very good and rain shower brilliant.
We went for a short drive around Lough Derg, but had to return early, weather was not great! We had a lovely drink in the Library, very cosy and pleasantly warm on a cold day.
Our food was excellent. We both ordered Tempura Prawns, starter, great choice, and plenty of them. My wife then had another starter portion of Chicken Wings, while I had the salmon and Prawns. There was a slight mixup regarding the wings that were ordered. Instead of Barbeque Sauce, they came out with Hot Sauce. The Sauce was VERY HOT, and not to my wife's liking, but they were changed immediately without any fuss. My salmon and prawns were, again, fabulous. However, the Wings my wife ordered were so plentiful, even as a starter, were so plentiful, that I had to finish them. Again, the Wings were excellent, fantastic flavour.
Breakfast was another wonderful experience. Self-service regarding cereals, orange and apple juices, and a good choice for the freshly-prepared hot Breakfast. Service, again, was very quick and efficient. Croissants and pastries were plentiful, and again self service regarding the toast, if you wanted some.
The staff throughout our stay were extremely friendly, efficient and helpful.
There is ample carparking within the grounds, and, as explained earlier, although we could not do much sightseeing, I would imagine that there would be plenty to occupy yourself during a longer stay, of course, weather permitting!
We did not try any of the Spa treatments, so will not comment.
Overall, really wonderful experience, and certainly expecting to return later in the year.
