I stayed here for 4 nights last summer and this summer stopped in for the Early Bird dinner ( 22 Euros for 2 courses, 29 Euros for 3). We had a Martini in the bar while we perused the Wine List, which is extensive and reasonably priced. I also appreciate that our host, who appears to be an utter gentleman, didn't try to pry the most expensive wines on us. I had Warm Goat's Cheese Salad followed by Woodhill Fish Pie. The goat's cheese was deliciously tart, and melted in the mouth. Large, generous portion. And the Fish Pie, with hake and mussels in a creamy white wine sauce, topped with parmesan...simply to die for. Lovely surroundings, cosy and informal. Very good value, considering the standard of cuisine. I'll be back next year, and sincerely hope they won't change the Early Bird meny!

Stayed at Woodhill House in May 2011. Beautiful location, lovely rooms. We got a garden room and it was tastefully decorated, large and spotlessly clean. The gardens are overlooked and very nice view of the countryside.
Easy walking distance to the village. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast the next day was basic but tasty. Highly reccommended.

Had a one night stay and could not bare another night. We would have gone elsewhere but we had driven so much that day, we had to rest. The room had damp patches on the wall, stained carpet and a small double bed. There were dead insects and cob webs on the window frame. We were fooled by the good reviews. There was a very strong smell of food and must in the bedroom which was over the kitchen.
Our stomachs were so turned by the smell in the room we could not bare to stay for breakfast. The bathroom had been recently re-fitted so this was clean but I could not sleep properly such was my discomfort.
The proprieters did seem very nice and offered to carry bags etc but we felt cheated by the price and what the room lacked. The setting was beautiful but the building and room were very shabby.
The tourist industry in Ireland is not helped by places like this which are over priced and deliver so little. For €95 I expected so much more.

We recently held our wedding reception at Woodhill House, what a fantastic day!

We did not want to get married in the usual bland square rooms that most hotels offer, we were looking for something more personal for our small wedding, so I was delighted when we stumbled upon Woodhill..... what a find! The setting is spectacular, nestled inthe roliing hills of Donegal with fabulous gardens. The staff are so friendly, attentive and good craic to boot! The food is beautiful and the rooms are large and bright... what more could you want?!
This is not your run-of-the-mill generic hotel, it is a family home and you feel this as soon as you walk through the front door... it is warm and welcoming and the staff are extremely accomodating (even extending breakfast to 11am the morning after the wedding).

We can't wait to go back!

Our recent stay at Woodhill, was more than pleasurable...it was fabulous. It's an historic house deep in the Donegal countryside and lived up to our expectations as such. Having lived and travelled all over the world (we've both lived in: Liberia, Cape Town, Malawi, New York, Chicago and Saigon) my girlfriend and I enjoyed a faultless evening meal on Saturday night. Then retired to sit by the open peat fire, whiskey and Guinness in hand, to banter with another couple who stayed that night. No blaring jukebox, irritating bandit machine at Woodhill.
As it was a break for us, how refreshing to hear that breakfast wasn't from 6am to 7.30am...we're on holiday, so our hosts were happy and obliging to serve anytime (in fact we ate next morning at 10.30am) There's no hurry in Ireland, so just fit in please. John loaned us an OS map, which helped greatly in getting around - 'Cheers John'.

We'd both highly rate a stay at Woodhill House for anyone wishing to relax, enjoy and simply 'get away from it all'. I'll post up some pics soon.
