We use the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel quite regularly, when in Dublin, as its location, on a hill in Killiney and its old-world ambiance gives a feeling of being away from it all. On this occasion our flight to Dublin was delayed and we rang ahead to request that some food be kept pending our arrival – in fact the restaurant was kept open a bit later for us it seemed. PJ's Restaurant is always good for dinner and we enjoyed the sea bass with potatoes on roasted fennel with citrus beurre sauce and gateau tiramisu for dessert. After a hectic day we were glad to enjoy some drinks in the Library bar – the first Guinness in Ireland is always a moment to savour, especially in a comfortable with walls adorned with antiques (guns) and old prints. The rooms may be in need of some refurbishment but we plan to return.

Room tip: Avoid front rooms.

A very sentimental hotel to us for a number of reasons including our anniversary which is why we visited again this year despite being a local. Even with Covid restrictions we were made to feel very welcome and didn't detract from our stay (although pool was closed for maintenance).

The mark of a good hotel for me is the service which is always second to none here, any request seen too without trouble. They also listen as a complimentary bottle of bubbles was left in our room along with some drinks later at the library bar due to it being our anniversary - its these little details that make a stay feel special. Highly popular with locals and a great spot to stay if you're not from here too - could not recommend more.

We stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas and would highly recommend. The family rooms were very spacious, food was to a really high standard and staff were very friendly. The only down side was the closure of the pool which was a disappointment for our boys but plenty to see and do around dalkey and dun laoighire

Stayed here in December with family. Rooms weren’t the best, definitely in need of a little redecorating - only reason a stay was docked. however the dinner in the restaurant was fantastic and the dungeon bar was very pleasant.
