Stayed for a night in this hotel with my mom for a girls getaway and could not praise our stay enough. I was expecting the room to be quite old fashioned but it was lovely, with a great view of the water. A complimentary appointment at the hot tub set us off to a great start, with a very cosy fluffy robe to lounge around in after.
Then, the food. As a vegan I am always sceptical of hotel food but the Eccles went above and beyond to accommodate, with an entire vegan menu. The dishes were bursting with flavour and the local produce (I got a wild mushroom dish) was the star of the show. Probably the best meal I have ever had at a restaurant. I wish I had had enough room for dessert. Similarly, my mom who ordered off the standard menu was very impressed. Had a delicious cocktail to finish which was the cherry on top. Breakfast was to a similar standard and the staff were all so lovely and helpful from the receptionist to the waiting staff, even the porters who we had no dealings with were exceptionally friendly saying 'goodnight, we'll see you in the morning!'.
Overall, I could not fault our stay at all. The front of house and kitchen staff are a credit to the hotel and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately the spa was closed the day we stayed, which we were told when booking but I will definitely be returning in the near future.
