This 250yr old hotel graces Glengarriff harbour with its old world charm. The views from its elongated frontage are splendid. It has to be forgiven with the steps to the entrance and inside to the restaurant although there is a lift to the rooms. My room 408 was on the small side with a quirky dormer space and wonky cistern in the ensuite but allowances made as the bed was very comfortable and the view beautiful. Be sure to get a room on the bay side. The bar food was delicious averaging €12 and the staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast in the dining room was a continental and Irish buffet with additional orders taken. My omelette was fresh and tasty. B&B was €126, a best deal directly from the hotel. Be aware there’s no spa, no pool or gym, no games room and no sitting room separate to the reception area. However it is walking distance to the ferry to Garinish island that is a wonderful day out- bring a picnic. For that reason the convenience of this hotel makes for a scenic relaxing stay.

We visited the bar for lunch. The service was a bit slow and the food fairly ordinary. The bar windows were used as seats and overlooked a lovely view of the harbour, which was an attractive feature. Overall our meal was Ok but we won’t rush back!

We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for four nights last week. This quaint old establishment is an ideal base for a stay in West Cork. Most major sightseeing is within 1hr - 11/2hrs drive. What should however be the main reason you stay in Eccles is the exciting new kitchen team in place. Eddie Attwell is one of the best chefs in Ireland and his food just demands to be sampled. Staff where extremely friendly and this beatiful old hotel was spotless throughout. Do yourself a favour and go see for yourself.

Stayed one night in a room overlooking Bantry Bay. The hotel is a little dated, but the bed was extremely comfortable. Had dinner in the bar and Aidan and Dylan could not have been more pleasant and easy to talk to, while still professional. The food was excellent.
