Lovely hostel, great value and hospitality

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Mar 2018
A lovely hostel, really clean and homely. The kitchen is spotless and the hosts, Siobhan and Mike are very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the female dorm which, like the rest of the building, was clean as a pin. A three night stay including breakfast was great value and the hostel is right in the middle of Glengarriff village.

Nuala it was a pleasure having you here and we are delighted that you enjoyed yourself; the plus being the sea eagle on Garinish Island. You were a fantastic guest and we hope to see you again. Regards Siobhan and Mike

Fantastic Facilities. Very thoughtful & child friendly hosts (Mike & Siobhan). We ran a 3 day 2 night intercultural camp with 13 Cubs (10-11 year olds) and 6 adults. Dormer rooms (10 bed & 6 Bed) perfect for this purpose, with additional twin rooms for leaders. Kitchen and cooking facilities superb and a lovely relaxation room with open fire. Could not recommend this place highly enough for Scout or Girl Guide groups on weekend camps.

I stayed solo in a twin room here for 4 nights. The hostel owners Siobhan and Mike were very friendly and helpful. They stored my bike for me and let me have the run of the place for the duration of my stay. There was a turf fire in the sitting room every evening. It was exceptional value, very clean and neat. Impossible to fault.

I couldn't imagine the hostel being any better. The owners, Siobhan and Mike, welcome you like long-lost family, and the building itself feels like a long-lost home. Super cozy fireplace, great open kitchen, a big second floor patio, and, of course, beds! The location dead-center of the most beautiful region of the country. It's just down the road from the Glengarriff Nature Preserve and right along the Beara Peninsula coastal road. Siobhan and Mike are enthusiastic about the Ireland experience, and will give you the absolute best advice for traveling. No joke -- the landscape should be convincing enough to visit the region, but if it's not, staying at the hostel is.

Stayed over the weekend for a cycling event. Siobhan & Co were amazing hosts, very friendly, clean hostel area and rooms. Shown all services when we arrived. Great wifi connection, kitchen and breakfast. They made a point of always making sure we had everything we needed throughout the day. Very relaxed and homely feel to the hostel. Would highly recommend and will be back next time we're in the area!.

Hi and booked 5 rooms and all were spotless and clean. Siobhan was very helpful with information on the location and set of up Hostel. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from and Mike was a great help. In the center of the town and easy access to all amenities. If travelling the Wild Atlantic way or just touring Kerry then a great place to stay. We were on Motorcycle and good parking across the road. Will stay again...Many Thanks
