Ballinahown Tea Rooms
Ranked #2 of 7 Coffee & Tea in Athlone

A wonderful place to relax and unwind alone or with friends. Ballinahown is a charming award winning village just a short drive from Athlone, and close to the visitor attractions Clonmacnoise and Lough boora. Indulge yourself in the Tea rooms but allow a little time to stroll around the village. The church and Celtic roots crafts are beside the Tea rooms and I suggest popping into both. Family's with young kids will love the playground set in the wooded area across from Flynns pub (with luck you'll have a chance to indulge yourself there too). Finally the village has a signed walk that will take 15 mins or so. Well worth making time for. You'll look forward to coming back!

Tea Rooms are clean and tidy upstairs above a craft shop which opens seasonly!

Only dislike of decor is panel units to "shop like" and modern for what is a quaint tea room!

Special of the day looked good but we opted for panini's which were very nice!

Apple tart nearly like what mother makes except base needed a few more minutes in the oven!

Good coffee

A real gem in a beautiful village in the centre of Ireland. A visit you will remember for its glimpse into the past.

I had breakfast here recently with friends. Although I live nearby I hadn't been before. The tearooms are nicely decorated and old fashioned in a nice way!
The breakfast was delicious and not too expencive at just over €11 for a full Irish, pot of tea amd a latte.
The only negative point was that it was quite cold inside, my friends kept jackets on. We were there though at 10am just as the place opened so I presume it would warm up after awhile.

Or 4th visit to the tea rooms and it each time it has proven to be exemplary.
The pictures speak for themselves but the friendly professional service that goes with it is fantastic. Freshly made cakes and buns on top of delicious savoury bites topped off with as much tea and coffee you can drink.
William and the gang put on a great spread in a wonderfully comfortable, friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to try the evening meals which they put on a couple of times a month.
An experience not to be missed.
