Somewhat worn and in need of a refresh. Nevertheless, comfortable, clean with decent breakfasts. Fine for short overnight stays. Bar and restaurant closed when we were there. Off-road parking available

This hotel was booked for us by John, who owns CYCLE TOURS IRELAND. It was our second stop on an amazing week of cycling. The hotel has a long and interesting past. The rooms were adequate and very clean and the breakfast filling as usual! Rooms facing the street may be noisier in the evening than ours, which looked out on the back parking lot. The location was ideal for wandering the town after a day of cycling. I know some people used the laundry service. Thanks for the warm welcome to Ireland and for accommodating John, his bicycles, and all of his group!

This is a hotel with a long history: Irish President Eamon de Valera stayed for lunch here back in the 1920's. So it's a little worn and in need of an overhaul, but it's clean and comfortable enough. We stayed in a room facing the street, and across from the police station, but because it's a fairly quiet town, street noise didn't keep us up. The single thing that would improve the room is that more light is needed. Bedside lamps don't provide enough light to read, and so the room came across as way too dark, not enough to keep one happy for very long. Bathroom was clean. We stayed two nights; one might have been better. On the plus side, it's just a short 10 minute drive to the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin.

Room Tip: You may want to avoid street side rooms.

Comfortable room and friendly staff with conveniently located parking, would have given it three stars but the breakfast was excellent so that definitely pushed it up. Only slight complaint was the heating seemed to be stuck on but it wasn't too hot just a little odd in July!

I stayed 3 nights and found the hotel to be more than adequate for me.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly. The room was comfy and clean and had all the usual things you'd expect in a similarly graded hotel, but an ironing board in the room would have been beneficial. Another small point was the "King" bed was 2 singles pushed together which gave some issues with comfort at night.
Breakfast was good although the selection and variety in the cold buffet was somewhat limited.
I had dinner and it was all very fresh and full of flavour. The seafood chowder was delicious.
Nice location for seeing Co Clare.
