Visited this restaurant many times in tinnahinch and it was always excellent.
Now with their move to Thomastown, it is even better.
In the front part of the building there is a lovely bar and a smaller plates dining area with an interesting menu.
In the restaurant it self there are four choices of starters, main courses and deserts with a very interesting and varied choice of wines.
We had the white onion soup with daube beef and the kilmore crab which were both delicious for starters.
Followed by the turbot main course. Yum yum!!
We will be back.

The word over the last few months was that Barrows Keep was to open in the old Steak House in Thomastown. Well wins all round they have this weekend commenced trading.

Initial word filtering through is that the place is unrecognizable and that there is an amazing wine offer from choice of a glass to a superior list to suit all price brackets. Happily that is the case.

Turbot is fabulous and that the ribeye is a carnivores dream. As a very satisfied diner I had to have a desert as I found the first two courses so good I felt I would miss out if I did not.

The addition of Barrows Keep to Thomastown is what the area has been crying out for and more, Thomastown this is a win , big time. Support and be part of this truly talented team and success story.

Best in area by a country mile.

We had a beautiful family Sunday lunch here beside the river on a beautiful late August Sunday after noon. There were 7 of including grandchildren and rather than having children's menu , the very helpfully staff offered to split a man course between the two children , which worked great, I had the ham hock terrine, excellent followed by the Roast Beef which was properly roasted as opposed to steamed as most places seem to be doing these days followed by a lovely dessert of almonds , yoghurt and various autumnal fresh fruits all accompanied by a really nice
bottle of Lebanese red wine, different, am not familiar with
But really enjoyed it at reasonable price.
Overall very satisfied beautiful food , large portions, effecient caring and friendly staff, reasonably priced,
The Epitomy of what a Sunday lunch should be.

Had a wonderful lunch with my wife today in Barrow's Keep. Walking from Borris Co Carlow to St Mullins along the Barrow Way, we noticed this restaurant. Called them and they were most helpful. After the walk we went back and had a wonderful lunch - dressed crab to start, tender pink lamb with a delightful selection of vegetables and mixed berry trifle and super ice cream dishes to follow. An excellent wine list with a good selection by the glass. Wonderful staff and and a very relaxing dining room in an old mill by the Riverside. A wonderful surprise and a delightful treat! Wonderful value as well.

As a couple we’ve eaten in Barrows Keep on a number of occasions: when it came to hosting a celebratory dinner for friends & family, we considered other venues and wisely choose Barrows Keep. Neither we nor any of our 23 guests were disappointed, on the contrary it surpassed expectations.
The food was simply delicious. All starters mains & deserts were eaten in full, with plates retrieved by the the waiting staff without morsel left - which speaks for itself.
The pace of the friendly, efficient yet relaxed service was a pleasure to enjoy.
We had chosen wines in advance and most pleasurable they were to savor & consume.
Luckily and perhaps by chance, we had the restaurant to ourselves, adding greatly to the ambiance and the ability of the guests to mingle & mix.
The next day we received several unsolicited texts from guests expressing gratitude for the tremendous evening and the high quality of foods beverages and service.
