Review of The Hunted Hog

The Hunted Hog
Description: Inside The Hunted Hog as the open fire roars, locals and out of towners can be heard speaking of the boar. Over a smooth stout and plate of good food, you're invited to relax and soak up the mood. In days gone by, this pub was once owned by well-loved Irish comedian & actor, Pat Shortt.

We had a lovely dinner here midweek, quiet friendly pub, food was good quality and generous portions. Would return if in the area in the future.

We had our wedding afters at the Hunted Hog in July.
Terrence took fantastic care of us in both the lead up and the day itself. No request was too big to be sorted and we had a fantastic time.
The food was so fresh and the BBQ catered for about 50people. Everyone commented on how tasty the food was and the entertainment that evening with the traditional Irish band was fantastic and created a great atmosphere!
The staff there are so friendly and really professionally trained as any request was sorted immediately and always with a great smile.
We had lunch in the bar on several occasions in the lead up and the portions were always large and freshly made with a great range of drinks and spirits behind the bar. This meant no drinks request was too whacky or strange to try out!!

In three words: will be back!

Went on a Sunday, gruffly told kitchen was closed due to private Wedding event. Returned Monday and sorry we did, poor service as wait staff appeared clueless, bringing 1 Guinness when 2 were ordered!!! Table not set, taking orders ahead of us etc... had the pudding starter but appeared off so returned it to kitchen. It was removed from bill but otherwise not addressed. Mains were average, steak sandwich covered in sauce to disguise quality of meat and staff were vague re catch of the day... staff unprofessional to each other within ear shot ... I could go on but won't ...

We were staying for two nights in Castlemartyr and went down to the Hunted Hog on the second evening. A small but cosy pub we were seated and offered drinks. Two great pints of Guinness served by friendly staff. Dinner orders taken. Excellent starters of black and white pudding and a goats cheese bruschetta was followed by fresh hake and a very tasty burger. Would highly recommend this pub if you are in the area. Each member of staff extremely friendly. Also great value for money.

Thank Yebre
