Four Directions Cottage is a perfect place to escape from it all, walk, and breathe fresh air.
We wanted to escape the cities and stay at a quiet location where we could explore the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. We stayed for 12 nights. The cottage was well appointed so guests could self-cater, relax and rest. It is ideally suited to two adults and two children. We unplugged and spent most of our time exploring.
The views of Bantry Bay, Bear Island and the Sheep’s Head Peninsula across the bay were breathtaking. The hiking paths at Hungry Hill are just a short distance from the cottage. We did not attempt to go to the top since serious hiking boots and equipment would be highly advisable. However daily walks to the lake and paths in the foothills were very enjoyable along with the views of the majestic Hungry Hill.
A car is necessary to get around as the cottage is isolated. Having a car makes Bantry, Glengariff, Kenmare, Eyeries and Allihies accessible.
Mick and Laraine were perfect hosts and there were many touches to the place that exhibited their thoughtfulness towards their guests. We found ourselves lucky, and would not hesitate to stay at Four Directions Cottage again.
This was the perfect mountain experience in Ireland! The cottage is clean and well kept with a brilliant view of Bantry Bay. The beds were clean and comfortable and fresh eggs, milk, and butter were even left out for us. I highly recommend this cottage!
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this adorable little cottage. It’s location on the mountain side was perfect. I wish we could’ve stayed longer. The cottage is small but comfortable. I stayed with my husband and two teen children. The kids loved the loft space. They also enjoyed hiking up the road to visit with the goats. I would definitely recommend this cottage.
Thank you larraine and mick for the wonderful stay in your lovely cottage. Everything was perfect. Larraine and mick are very guestfriendly and welcomed us with tea, coffee, milk, butter and jam. The view from the cottage is amazing! Its very close to castletownberehaven, where you can find restaurants, pubs and a supermarket. We recommend this cottage, if you want a stay in an authentic irish cottage.
