It was a true pleasure to stay at Bantry house from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the owner personally. The family are both welcoming and charming and our room was delightful. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in a long time and the elegant decor and well appointed en suite made our stay most comfortable. It was a pleasure to be able to spend the evening in the historic library but we also had the choice of the comfy snug with coal fire and adjoining snooker room and honesty bar.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bantry House in March. And that's with me even managing to get the flu and be sick the first morning there. The hospitality is amazing. Bantry House had the most plush bedding of anywhere we stayed in Ireland (we were in Ireland for 3 weeks) - a plus when not feeling well. It's the only place where the bathroom floors were heated - another plus when not feeling well (ahem!). We had great help in locating a place to get our laundry done in Bantry. The food at the cafe on-site was very good, and hit the spot. The location is a good base point for exploring the Beara Peninsula. If you can swing it, there is no reason not to stay here. It was a real joy to be a guest at this wonderful B&B!

This was my favorite stop in our 14 days in Ireland. It's a unique place -- not quite a castle but certainly part of the history of Ireland.

The 7 guest rooms are charming, so tidy and comfortable. We were greeted by Sophie, daughter of the house who was warm and welcoming. We had the run of the place and spent a wonderful sunny afternoon in cushioned chairs on the porch overlooking Bantry Bay -- a great break from all the driving and touring.

The wisteria was in full bloom during our visit and their fragrance was everywhere. The breakfast may have been the best we had in Ireland, certainly the scones were the best. We loved our visit with Anna in the kitchen who shared her recipe and her good humor.

There's not a lot to do in Bantry itself, although we had a wonderful dinner at O'Connor's and spent the morning at the town's weekly market. That said, this is a perfect place to stop and take a break from all the touring and tourists. A winner!

We were blessed by fine weatrhe , the gardens command a lovely view over the bay , the bedrooms are quite fine , the gardens and pond and tiered terraces are enchanting and the house itself still has a homely atmosphere.
The staff and hosts are genuinely friendly
Stay here - its a must in your tour of southern Ireland
