The house would have been suitable for us six adults even to live in and not only as a holiday home. Space enough for a big family with comfortable furniture and a cosy fireplace. Willemijn and Jack are very pleasant and helpful. We needed their guidance to find the house, which is lying in a very quiet environment. Using the car is indispensable.
Just what we hoped for, not difficult to find if you follow directions given, but tucked away and wonderfully peaceful. The owners were great, easy to communicate with and helpful with advice before we travelled and when we had a small issue during our stay. The house is very spacious, warm and comfortable, not glamorous, but true to its description, with a good kitchen and everything you could need. We travelled around the whole area, ring of Kerry, Dingle and Beara, a great location. Couldn't have been better, Thank You.
The cottage was much more remote than we expected..about 10 km out of Sneem and more than 20km out of Kenmare. It was accessed by a 2 km one lane road.
The cottage itself was well appointed and comfortable (with the exception of the beds which were rock hard.)
The outside of the cottage looked pretty from the photos but the reality was that the surrounds were unkempt with large log piles and a run down garden. The outdoor furniture was dilapidated and uninviting.
We booked and paid for 3 nights and left after the first night. We didn't want to make a fuss and we moved on to a hotel in Killarney.
Subsequently we were surprised to be advised that we owed 12 Euros for electricity and water! This was never discussed and not in the rental contract I received on payment but it was pointed out by the owner that it was in the fine print on the ad on the website. In some 40 years of travelling around the world I have never been charged extra for energy.
We were disappointed that the cottage was not the warm, cosy inviting place we expected and that it was so far from Sneem. We also felt that the energy charge was ridiculous.
We stayed at the Stone House for 3 nights. It was kind of hard to find for the first time but the owners were super helpful. They picked us up from a known junction and helped find the house.
The house is amazing!! It's gorgeous, spacious, quiet and warm. Appliances are working fine, the couple offered us free wood for the fireplace and there is an outside grill set up ready to go. There are a lot of toys for kids in the house and there is a crib in one of the bedrooms. Kitchen, the dining area and the sitting area is huge and have enough room for everyone. We loved the house.
Things to be aware of: There are a lot of little flies outside so make sure to keep the doors shut otherwise you get bitten. Not a big deal but there's an extra charge for the hot water. We stayed 6 people and paid $12 for 3 days.
We have stayed in this place for 3 days. The house was clean and we had everything we were looking for. They even have a barbecue outside. The location is amazing and it's very close to the ring of Kerry.
