Lovely guest house would stay again!

Review of Ben View House

There is so much history here and the owner Des is absolutely lovely. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed for one night on our way to Kylemore Abby but could have stayed much longer! Parking was easy on the street right outside and Des let us know they are taking it easy on giving out tickets due to COVID anyway.

We got the most friendly warm welcome from our host Ben, what a lovely person. We couldn’t believe the lovely breakfast we got. Try the pancakes, they really are the best!

Great value and lovely experience.

From the moment you stepped in the door you had a warm welcome from Eileen and Desmond. So friendly and polite. The Bed and breakfast is decorated in the lovely colourful flowers on the outside, with free parking after 5.30pm on the Main Street. The B&B is located less than a second from the main street with shops, bars and restaurants, none take bookings so I would recommend going early we ate in Mannions pub it was lovely.
Ben view B&B was the the best bed and breakfast we stayed on dying our trip, the decor is warm and welcoming dating back to when the Bed and Breakfast first opened, reminding me of my grandparents house.
The rooms are cosy and comfy, with en suite, tea/coffee facilities and TVs.
The rooms vary from family to double rooms.
Both Eileen and Desmond are excellent hosts. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, So fresh and tasty. The plates, saucers and cutlery are beautiful.
I would really recommend this B&B and will definitely be back.

What a joy to stay at this wonderful place. But it's not about the place, it's about the people who provide a service that is the most memorable thing you remember about any place! The service and hospitality were second to none. Although Des, the delightful and engaging proprietor would freely admit, "His rooms are unpretentious ", That said, they are more than adequate and were clean, fresh, well maintained and sufficiently equipped. In this context, unpretentious is a good thing. In essence, it felt like home. THE BREAKFAST! Just amazing! In addition to the usual cereals, fruits and yogurts, the main event is truly memorable. The choice of the Full Irish, Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or The lightest loveliest pancakes (drop scones) served with fresh fruits and maple syrup is the highlight of the experience. In addition to the beautifully presented sustenance, the busy ambience of the dining room adds to the occasion. The cosy busy layout lends itself to allow you to engage with fellow guests, or not, as the mood might find you. In conclusion, it was an excellent four night stay and besides the good value, great hospitality from Des and Eileen, New friend for life, (Hi Tanya from Germany), the breakfasts were definitely something to write ✍ home about. We will be back here very soon!

Des (the proprietor) is a lovely welcoming gent who is a font of knowledge on Clifden and Connemara. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean and wonderfully comfortable. The breakfast is fabulous and very generous. Des is happy to help you get the best out of your stay by recommending points of interest and natural beauty that you may otherwise miss out on.

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights here! If you are looking for a true Irish experience this is the place to be! From the beautiful lace trimmed sheets and pillow cases to the old Irish china used at breakfast it was just perfect. We so enjoyed meeting the owner and his sister who answered all our questions and were just delightful! Breakfasts were amazing and if you don't want their "true Irish breakfast" try their homemade "from scratch" pancakes! Amazingly good. If we ever make it back to this beautiful little town we'll see you folks again for sure!

Room tip: Very central location to all of town!
