“Pleasant surprise for last minute lodging”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

While passing through the west of Ireland on a holiday road trip we made the quick decision to stay in Clifden. After wandering the streets and browsing our lodging options we ended up at the first place that we had checked out. The lady at reception was extremely friendly and helpful, making us want to give her our business. The room was clean and spacious. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was very packed for the evening and the plates looked delicious. The breakfast was not only hearty but tasty! Overall, a very pleasant stay.

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend in August 2011.
The reception was just inside the door, very welcoming friendly lady.
Our rooms were really large, very comfortable beds and great hot water in the shower.
We ate in the restaurant that night and it was excellent, such a choice of food and the
quality was also excellent, very satisfied also with the price.
The lounge bar had resident music so no need to go outside looking for same.
Overall the location is superb, right in the centre of town, you can take off up the
sky road for a long walk and come back to relax in the hotel. I would have
no problem in recommending this hotel, for all ages.

Old building - nothing modern about it. However the room was very spacious, recently painted and was very clean. I was pleasently suprised that my room had sky sports! The food (we had dinner & breakfast) was very good overall and was much better than I expected from an Irish hotel that cost €80 for a couple including breakfast. The staff seemed to be genuinely friendly and helpful. They warned me when I booked that there was a large halloween party on the night I was staying but I would be allocated a room away from the noise. They were as true to their word and gave us complimentary halloween masks in case we felt like crashing the party! Also they gave us a late check out when requested without any fuss. I would happily stay here again.

Very comfortable, if slightly old fashioned, excellent sizes rooms and ensuite, comfortable beds. Restaurant served some excellent and adventurous fusion dishes as well as locally produced food. Service was very good, helpful and friendly Well place in the centre of Clifden, however as private parking is not available and street parking is controlled, it could be a problem in the high season.

Room Tip: Requested a back facing room on arrival, which was very quite. Front facing rooms overlooking the st...

Just back from a brilliant w/end in Foyles for my brothers wedding. This hotel is a real gem, the staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. We had two small kids with us who were made feel so welcome. The hotel is charming with its antique furniture and old world atmosphere. The food was fab from b/fast through to dinner, and Mularkeys pub serves the best pint of Guinness in Clifden. Highly recommend Foyles and am looking forward to my return visit.
