Owner description: Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin Family) for over three centuries and is located on the Limerick to Tralee road, the N21, a great pit stop for those on the way to the Ring of Kerry. The Adare Heritage Centre, located in the middle of this charming town with its many thatched houses, allows you to step back in time through an informative historical exhibition, also incorporating a tourist office, gift, craft and heraldry outlets, and a restaurant. During Summer months - June-September - The Desmond Castle tour exclusively runs from the Heritage Centre 7 days a week, with a new tour every hour.

On visiting Adare it is imperative that one should visit the Heritage Centre, an experience to be enjoyed by all ages, where one will find efficient, caring staff with a high standard restaurant and lovely shopping to be enjoyed. A hub where information regarding all aspects of the village can be attained.

We visited the Dovecote restaurant on 2 consecutive evenings and were very impressed not only in the excellent food on offer but by the way the staff went over and above mere customer service. From the moment you set foot in the place you are welcomed by a member of staff to Adare before being shown to your table. You are also help with picking and ordering your food choices and the service at table was second to none. They only example I can compare it to was a visit to your grans for tea very homely. Well done we will visit again on our next visit to Adare.

The woman at the information center was very friendly, eager to answer questions and gave us some maps of the area. Toured the museum and learned a lot about the history of the local community. Had a delicious and affordable lunch in the café. Perused the shops and purchased a couple gifts. Enjoyed a conversation with the gentleman at the coat of arms shop. The Heritage Center also offers ample parking and access to clean restrooms.

Stopped at Heritage Center to learn about the history of the area. The coffee shop was an excellent place for a quick lunch. The staff was very helpful giving advice for the area. The gift shops and Heraldry Center stocked interesting items.
