We were in Kinsale for the Kinsale Classic Car Rally an annual event organised by Kinsale Classic & Vintage Motor Club.
We missed out on staying with Maureen this year so were sleeping in Jim Edwards Guest House. As Jim Edwards do not supply Breakfasts we were invited by Maureen to have breakfasts at Friars Lodge & were also able to park our car in their off road car park. This is typical of the kindness of Maureen who alway goes the extra mile for her guests. We normally stay with her in Friars Lodge each year along with other members of our Swansea Club,

Room Tip: WiFi is available in the foyer & some locations on floors all rooms are excellent.

As most reviewers already mentioned: Friar's Lodge is a bit dated in their decor (and their website), but don't let this fool you. It's a charming and spacious accommodation. Maureen is so friendly and made you feel welcome.

It's situated just 2 min outside the town center, in a quieter neighbourhood. And a bonus: free off-street parking!

Wifi connection was very good, we got wifi in our room, not only in the public area.
The bed is comfy. However, the bed is a bit on the small size: 1.90 m instead of regular 2 m, so if you're very tall, you might get a bit uncomfortable.

There's also a mini fridge in the room, and a safe. And the accommodation has an elevator.

Because we were traveling off season, we didn't have much to choose from the breakfast menu. But there's also a breakfast buffet as well that made up for it.

Unfortunately we only stayed for 1 1/2 nights (in the middle of the night we had to leave for our flight to Amsterdam from Cork), I wouldn't mind staying a bit longer there.

All in all: I definitely will stay here again if I ever visit Kinsale again.

Stayed in Friars Lodge over St. Patrick's weekend with my family. We booked 6 rooms. Each room was huge, warm and very clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was any bother. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
It was very quiet and has a guest carpark to the back that is a bonus as Friars lodge is situated on a little, narrow street up a small hill from the hustle and bustle of the beautiful Kinsale town.
We dealt with Maureen prior to our visit and nothing was any bother.
Mary was also very helpful. The rooms are reasonably priced and it is well worth a stay.
I would stay here again if I return to Kinsale.

I liked the location up on a hill away from tourists. It's easy walking distance from downtown, even with luggage. It's near the Desmond Castle and churches. The big gold lettering in the side of the building attracted me when I was searching for a hotel off the beaten path.
