“Can't beat the view!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2016

We happened upon a couple that were at a pub when we were traveling from Dingle to Cork one day and they insisted that we make a visit to Kinsale. We took their word and skipped Cork and headed right to Kinsale. We had no reservations anywhere so we pulled into town and came upon a gorgeous hotel located right on the harbor. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful even though it was obvious they were busy. We were able to snag a gorgeous room right on the side facing the harbor and enjoyed a very large and clean king bed room. The bathroom was also amazing! I wish we had more than one night here. The breakfast that came included with our room price was beyond amazing. Literally one of the nicest, fanciest breakfasts I've ever had. 4-star chef worthy! The staff were able to give us tips on places that we should try for dinner that would still be open (again, not really tourist season in November!) The bartenders at the Wharf were also great and helped supply us with some ice in our room for the liquor that we had brought ourselves. We ended up purchasing more drinks from the bar anyway. Check out was smooth and we were sad to have to leave.

I stayed at the Trident for one night having attending a staff Christmas night in the town. The hotel is unique in that it has large windows overlooking the harbour, ensuring that all guests have stunning views of the water. Despite being beside a working harbour, noise is not an issue. The bathroom was extremely modern with good power in the shower. Plenty of storage space for clothing and every part of the room was spotlessly clean. The bedroom had a large double bed and it was very comfortable. Breakfast had a nice choice, I was pleased that the food was cooked to order. Note that if returning late at night, the door will be locked and you will have to ring the night bell in order to gain admittance. The staff were friendly and welcoming at all times. I received a warm greeting from the reception desk, the housekeeping staff, the breakfast servers and the night porters. The hotel is a short walk from the main street in Kinsale and you have lovely sea views on the way. I would return here based on my experience and would certainly recommend it to others.

I stayed at the Trident for three nights in a large room with stunning views over the harbour. The room appeared to have been recently modernised and was certainly much improved from my previous visit about five years ago.Excellent bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. The bedroom had a huge double bed and a small sitting area and a dressing table. We had breakfast every day but had lunch and dinner out. Breakfast was fine if a little slow when they were busy.Staff were very pleasant and service in the bars excellent.Parking is tight when they are full.

Room Tip: get a seaview

Dear Marcus

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us in the Trident Hotel.

We very much appreciate your kind comments. I'm sorry that you found the breakfast service a little slow during busy periods this may be due to the fact that our hot breakfasts are cooked to order while the cold options are self service in a buffet style. Hopefully you enjoyed them anyway.

We have commenced a major programme which will see all of our bedrooms and public areas completely refurbished in time for next season.

I hope that we will be able to welcome you back to see the completed works!

Kind regards,

Hal McElroy

Lovely hotel, extremely comfy bed.
All bedrooms face the harbour with fantastic unobstructed views (Window panes nice and big). Relatively quiet despite being beside a working harbour.
Nice breakfast in a nice bright harbour facing breakfast room.
Staff were very friendly.

Stayed in Kinsale for two nights touring Ireland with my mother. Hotel is on the water mixed in with a private marina and commercial piers--very cool. The walk to town is very nice. Rooms were large, clean and modern. WiFi worked flawlessly.

Front desk very friendly and knowledgable.

Parking lot is small! There were several functions while we were there and it put the lot to the test.

Dear Baldbear99,

Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us in the Trident Hotel.

I am delighted that you enjoyed the hotel and our location - there is an interesting blend of craft on the water here from commercial coasters, fishing trawlers, leisure angling boats, sailing yachts to small inshore craft, kayaks and even dive boats. All providing plenty of activity to watch while sipping from a glass at our Foredeck Bar or even just watching from your bedroom window!

Kinsale is a town to stroll through visiting the excellent craft shops and galleries while choosing a café or restaurant for some refreshment. Keep the car parked!

We look forward to welcoming you and your mother back again soon.

Kind regards,

Hal McElroy
