My partner and I stayed at the Blue Haven for one night on the 23rd of December. Parking on the street was easy - we paid a couple of euros for the remainder of the day and through to midday on the 24th. The receptionist was lovely on arrival and offered to have someone take our bags up to our room (there is no lift, but we were happy for the exercise). Our room wasn't what we expected (in reference to the photos on their website), but the bed was extremely comfortable and we settled in quite nicely and then headed out for dinner. After dinner we headed back to our room and realized that our shower didn't work (no water pressure out of the shower head and the tap going into the bath was full force, and we could not turn it off). We called reception and let them know, they sent someone up (he arrived immediately) and he also couldn't fix the problem. The receptionist asked if we would like to move but by this stage we were settled and had electronics plugged into chargers etc. We decided to stay and use the bath instead of the shower.

Breakfast on the 24th was excellent. Probably the best breakfast we had during our 10 days in Ireland. The staff were so friendly and you could really feel the Xmas spirit (the jolliest santa was also there :)

When we checked out, the receptionist (different from the receptionist from the evening before, a lovely Australian lady - I can't remember her name), was aware of our issue with the shower and offered to take 20 euros off our bill. This was much appreciated.

All in all, we were very pleased with the service at the Blue Haven. Mistakes and issues will always happen, but it's how the staff handle them that make the difference. Thank you Blue Haven!!!

Room Tip: We were in room 6 and it was outdated....

In exploring the town this seemed to be the nicest and best value for a hotel. I was quoted €138 for two nights. The rooms were very small but very charming. It's a sister hotel of the Old Bank Hotel. The best concierge I've met in Kinsale! A wrapped cookie in your bed from their bakery. Fish restaurant and Hamptons on premises for good eats.

You may need to adjust your expectations when staying at the Blue Haven. Things to note (1) it is in the middle of Kinsale. There will be music and noisy people at the weekends in the summer. If you don't like this, go somewhere else. (2) it isn't a plastic modern hotel. There are stairs and rooms that are not a precise geometrical shape, and the furniture is not from Ikea. If you don't like this, go somewhere else. (3) it has a decent restaurant but there are better/more expensive places to eat in Kinsale. Work out what you want and get on with it. (4) I doubt there is anywhere more atmospheric to stay in Kinsale. Enjoy it.

Room Tip: We had a big room overlooking the main street and it was fine

Really worth to go to, Kinsale town itself is beautiful but Blue Haven as well. I didn't realise that they are so complex - there's Blue Haven Hotel, bar and bistro, seafood cafe, hamlets bar and just when we were about to leave Kinsale we popped in to Old Bank House for coffee and we found out there are part of blue haven too.
Very nice, quiet, clean place and nice people. I think that's what it is about.
Highly recommended!

Before I begin, I know this is a bit late, but just didnt around to writing it.
My wife and myself visited the Blue Haven for an evening meal during the Halloween weekend and the meal was very power. I would rate the seafood chowder was cold & probably the worst that Ive ever had. My wife had soup which was cold also. We reported it to the waitress but she did nothing about it. We had planned in having main course also but we paid for what we had and left.
