The Lantern Townhouse

A friend and I shared a triple room on the second floor. The room itself was spacious enough, the bedding was very comfortable and warm. The window provided a decent view of the town, though you should really be spending your time in and around Dingle. The bathroom was large with all the amenities like soap and a toothbrush glass.

Katharine is really the star of the B&B. She was extremely helpful, offering great recommendations of local pubs and restaurants based on price, music, taste, etc. In the morning she even offered to book our reservation for a ferry.

The breakfast is in a quaint dining room off the main entrance. It was delicious and there were plenty of options. Katharine was there again, very pleasant to talk to. Overall it is at a good location near some pubs, a food store, and close to pretty much everything you would need. The price is very reasonable: a bit more than a hostel but tons less than a hotel, and the Lantern has nearly all of their amenities, and hotels don't have Katharine.

One note, make sure you bring some sort of watch, clock, or cell phone, as I woke up early trying to find a clock thinking we had missed breakfast.

Room Tip: Check online, consider booking there.

We are a family of three and stayed in the family room on the second floor. The room is adequately sized and the bathroom has a extremely good and big sized shower. All three breakfast choices offered were of high quality. The landlady was very friendly and courteous.

If you're planning to visit Dingle, the Lantern is the perfect spot to stay. It's centrally located, reasonably priced and has rooms that are plenty comfortable. The highlight, however, is Katherine. She's a pure delight and is more than happy to direct her guests to places of interest. I hope to return to Ireland someday, and if I do, I'll be checking into the Lantern again if there's room!

It was obvious that we were travelling with a lucky lepruchan tucked in our back pockets when we arrived at The Lantern for our three day stay in Dingle.
From our first introduction to Katherine we knew we had chosen well.......she is the finest of hosts, kind, warm, friendly and most of all, a delightful young woman. Katherine could not have been more generous in her suggestions to make our stay in the quaint town and surrounds of Dingle, more special.
Pride of place is obvious in The Lantern; our room on the second floor at the back was spacious and lovingly appointed... the bed comfortable, and with a generously sized, sparkling clean bathroom. Nicely decorated, the common dining room and small but pleasant lounge reflected Katherine's smart touch and her desire to provide a enjoyable respite for weary travellers.
Breakfast was delicious with a myriad of hot and cold selections available to satisfy every palate. Katherine gets a gold star for having the best "brown bread" of all the B&B's we stayed in, wonderful coffee and no one can compete with her waffles!
Katherine's enthusiastic recommendations for our explorations allowed us to have a truly special experience in this wild and wooly area of the West.....from wandering the streets of Dingle, enjoying the picturesque buildings, the sea front, the cheese shop, the Dingle crystal shop and the local Friday market, then further afield during our round trip on the peninsula.....stopping at the Famine Cottages, the beach, and for a piece of fresh rhubarb pie at a tiny isolated cottage high above the Atlantic.
We left Katherine to continue our 21 day trip in Ireland as one would leave a friend.....happy, contented and so pleased to have met her.........we will return and so will the "beanies", Katherine!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.
