Sheen Falls was the first stop of our 10 day trip 35th anniversary celebration. We were not disappointed by the site nor the hotel. We were upgraded to an amazing suite at the very end of the accommodation wing towards the stables and that was perfect especially because this is a big wedding venue and there was a wedding party the night we arrived. We had booked dinner at the Falls Restaurant which is a very nice room overlooking the river but to be honest we then preferred the lounge menu which offers more local cuisine and original savours.
All was perfect in our 4 night stay except the breakfasts. Because the buffet is way too basic, people are expected to order warm food and therefore it takes forever to get a table and be served basic tea and toasts to help you wait for the main course.
The apocalypse was the morning after the wedding when we had to wait 1/2h to be seated while the noisy and crowded wedding party was having breakfast. It would have been so much easier to set up a self service buffet and hot drinks station in the bar area and lounge and hire extra staff to accommodate the rush and separate wedding guests from other hotel guests looking for peace and a 5* service.
It proved that, 4 breakfasts later, including one in the bedroom, the breakfast service was delicious but always...Sheen Falls was the first stop of our 10 day trip 35th anniversary celebration. It proved that, 4 breakfasts later, including one in the bedroom, the breakfast service was delicious but always hectic or slow or both. Nothing that could not be sorted out by a better set up.
The staff was always very friendly all the way and the reception ladies even helped me book a Dr appointment in Killarney (nothing closer) on a bank holiday Monday when we were checking out and moving north towards Ballynahinch. A very special thanks to them! More
