“Great museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2016

Mollys is fantastic conception. I am sure it is as authentic a glimpse into the life of a widowed, poor Irish country woman of that era as you could find anywhere .
There is no specified charge required but a donation jar is to hand as you leave.
I would recommend a vist. Kids would like it as there are farmyard animals to see. Also a little tea room.
We were told by the curator that it is end of season in about a weeks time so probably best to visit up until end of October.
Great idea, long may it continue.

“Pretty good.”

Something to do on the way to the next town. We didn't want to drive the Ring of Kerry so this was an option.

“A PIECE OF OLD IRELAND”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2016

Situated on the Kenmare to Glengariff Road Molly Gallivan's is well worth a stop for a welcoming cup of tea and sustenance. There are historical walks which are not arduous and great effort has been expended by the owners to reproduce farming as it was in the 19th Century and the living standards pertaining to the time.
Thoroughly recommend a stop at this unique spot.

“The real Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2016

This amazing place has something for everyone: a warm Irish welcome, delicious homemade food and a good cup of tea, a very knowledgeable owner and staff, a gift shop stocked with high quality local knitwear, crafts and souvenirs, and then there is the authentic farm and cottage, beautifully maintained as it would have been in Molly Gallivan's day. The demonstration of how poitin (illicit alcohol) was made is great fun!

If you are interested in the mystical side of Ireland (stone circles and ancient spirituality), then make sure you talk with Stephen, the owner, who is fascinating on the subject.

Highly recommended.

“Funny, Delightful & Charming .......”

Stephen & his family supply a warm welcome and are very friendly. We had a wonderful time visiting, exploring farming and life from the past then staying for a home cooked meal.

As a host Stephen did a marvellous job, I laughed until my cheeks hurt at his storytelling - it is nice to see a family keeping these traditions and stories alive. A very enjoyable experience and one of the highlights - certainly memorable!
