Just came from Grenada on a trip with my hubby for my birthday. Spent 2 days at mount edgecombe (Jul 20- 21 2018). We went for 1 night and stayed a second night because the accommodations were so great. The cottage is awesome, clean, the wooden furniture completes the look of the cottage. the balcony is huge with an amazing view of the trees and the Caribbean sea. our mornings consisted of greetings from the most vain peacock then fresh coffee and breakfast (eggs from the chicken on the planation). we then took a walk around the plantation picking fruit (Mango, cherries). then a dip in the infinity pool over looking the Caribbean sea. The service is also awesome. Amanda and Adrian the hotel managers make you feel at home, like you are the most important person. it was great! One downfall of the hotel is there is no refrigerator or coffee maker in the room.

Amazing time at Mount Edgecombe!! A beautiful spot to unwind and be surrounded by tropical nature. Service and food impeccable and charming. I can highly recommend. A real taste of a Grenada cocoa plantation in the north of the island. Remote, but a drive to Bathway Beach, you can quite happily relax at Mount Edgecombe in the infinity pool and be welcomed to your stay with fresh chilled sorrel juice from the plantation. Most of the food served - optional - is from the plantation so you feel like you are really living it there. Definite hidden gem!!

Tucked away in the northern part of Grenada, Mount Edgecombe Plantation is simply stunning! After spending 5 nights on BBC beach in bustling St. Georges, we found ourselves the only guests on the gorgeous plantation for 4 days.
Mt Edgecombe is an oasis- tranquil, luxurious, intimate and abounding with fresh fruit!! (I marveled at the lack of fresh fruit in the southern 'tourist' regions but was able to eat a Julie Mango right off the tree here) The bed was comfortable, the infinity pool was perfect, the views were amazing - lush, tropical forests framed by sky and sea!
I recommend having your own car or reliable access to a driver. The plantation is nestled between the two small towns of Gouyave and Victoria so nothing is within walking distance.
Andrew and the staff were so accommodating and attentive to our needs (i.e. preferred time for meals, what kinds of fruits we wanted picked off the trees for juice/breakfast, recommendations for sightseeing and beaches, etc!)
If you're looking to get away from crowds and tourists, this is a wonderful place to stay! -Julianne and Jason

We love to visit amazing boutique hotels that are just emerging on the world scene, and Mount Edgecombe is destined to be discovered soon. This was our first trip to Grenada, and we were not sure what to expect, but we were pretty sure we did not want to be in the middle of a touristy area. Nothing is really remote in Grenada- you can cross the whole island in an hour. This made it possible to stay at Mount Edgecombe Plantation, which is in a quiet area of the Northwest coast, while still being accessible to every other place on the island we wanted to visit. We stayed for nine days and were able to see the whole island, always coming back to the restful and beautiful surroundings that felt like home very quickly.

Mount Edgecombe is an old plantation that has been upgraded with rustic, yet luxurious rooms. The furnishings are really pretty- our room had a four-poster bed, a red cast iron tub, a day bed and couch, as well as an expansive porch off the back with a gorgeous view of the ocean. There was a lot of storage- a wooden wardrobe to hang clothes, several drawers and places to put away toiletries, etc. The room was extremely comfortable, with just the right amount of space to spread out and settle in.

The property produces cocoa, nutmeg, and a wide variety of herbs, spices, and fruits, and has its own vegetable garden which supplies a lot of the food. They also have lovely goats. The estate has 28 acres, and you could really spend a whole day exploring there if you wanted to. It is not too hot there in the lush surroundings. Evenings are cool enough that we did not even need a fan in our room, although one was available if we needed it.

The infinity pool is decadent. It is has two levels and a stunning view of the ocean, absolutely breathtaking sunsets. The water is pristine. There are beaches close by, and other nearby attractions, such as a cocoa factory that processes the plantation's cocoa into wonderful chocolate. Fish Friday in nearby Gouyave is also a local attraction, where you can get virtually any type of seafood in a street fair atmosphere with music and outdoor tables to sit and eat.

We would recommend renting a car. Even though for us it was a little challenging (very narrow and twisty roads, left side driving), the benefit of being able to go wherever you want is helpful. However, the manager of the estate can arrange transportation if you are not feeling adventurous enough to have your own vehicle. There is plenty to do locally with some longer excursions. Still, if you need to be in the heart of the action with lots of activity, you may prefer to stay in a more touristy area.

If you are like us, and enjoy getting the flavor of a place by staying where the crowds will probably never go and where the the locals are engaged in the work of their daily lives, rather than catering to the whims of tourists, you will appreciate the peace and genuine character of Mount Edgecombe Plantation.

A few words about the manager, Andrew, and his team: We were so impressed with Andrew's commitment to improving this property, making every aspect of our stay pleasurable, and attending to the needs of the guests. Grenada, while filled with friendly people, is not known for its service. However, the staff at Mount Edgecombe aspire to provide a quality service experience where guests feel pampered and catered to, while not imposed upon. They are available as much as needed, or can retreat into the background to afford complete privacy and quiet. It's rare to find such an exquisite blend of accessibility, while never feeling stuffy or overbearing. This allowed us to have the most relaxing vacation we have ever had, with all the comforts of a luxurious tropical home while not feeling pretentious.

Andrew is a talented chef and made wonderful meals. We were happy to be surprised by what he would create, which included a fabulous chicken curry, pork with savory root vegetables, and a pasta with Bolognese sauce. Desserts were a flavorful key lime pie and a chocolate souffle to die for. While we enjoyed the element of surprise of what Andrew would make for us, he would certainly entertain requests or cater to dietary needs if that was preferred. The rate included breakfasts, which consisted of cereals and yogurt, fresh fruit and juices, coffee, and Andrew or Sonita could also make a hot breakfast, eggs, bacon, etc.

We really can't say enough about the beauty of the place or the loving way it is being managed. While it is still an up-and-coming property, you can see all of the effort that is being put into making it a boutique experience. We love to visit places before they become so sought-after and exclusive that we can't afford them! Mount Edgecombe will probably always have the feel of casual luxury, but I doubt it will stay so quiet and undiscovered for long. If you are wise, you will stay there before the prices rise to match the true quality of the place.

Room tip: The Superior Nutmeg Room with the Red Bathtub, Four-Poster bed and best view of the ocean and sunsets right from the deck was wonderful!
