This place is beautiful. We Went as part of a birthday surprise, stayed 2 nights in the Chateau suite. The suite had like a vintage decor and was well presented. The suite overlooked the gardens to the front, which provided a nice view whilst eating breakfast. The bathroom was clean and modern with a big bath and a shower which were in good condition.

The bed was comfortable and the heating was great. The room was nice and warm.

Having breakfast brought to the room in the mornings was lovely and the breakfast itself was delicious.

Would love to stay here again.

I booked in here for a birthday treat for my boyfriend and this place did not disappoint. We were booked in the penthouse suite which had really stunning views of Bakewell. The room was amazing, very comfortable, great bathroom facilities. The staff met us at the door to check us in and give us our keys, they were really friendly and welcoming. Fabulous stay.

Not sure about this place. The house itself is beautiful and very well located for the centre of Bakewell. The bathroom in our room was also nice. We booked via booking.com which says we booked a standard double room, you call it a luxury suite?

Our room, The Hadden Suite, didn't work for us. It felt odd. The windows and the blinds aren't practical - the blinds also need replacing; they appear old and speckled. We could hear everything clearly from the room above - taps running, microwave beeps, microwave humming, yawning. The room was cold. Despite these things, there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the room, it just felt like we'd been assigned the least attractive room in the building. £235 for two nights for a self catered 'suite' - not by any means an expensive room, but overpriced for what it offered. To brand this a 'luxury suite' is far from the truth. A check under the bed wouldn't have gone amiss too..

We did ask to move; were told we could for an upgrade which in the end wasn't possible. Bed was comfy and we slept well, but if you're looking for a welcoming, 'luxury' room, this isn't it.

Disappointing.

I agree fully that Bagshaw Hall is beautiful and very well located in the centre of Bakewell.

I don’t agree at all with the comment, which is very confused as the guest booked a standard room through booking.com which is what they paid for and yet they expected a luxury room for the same price?

This guest did speak with me on Friday night to ask for an upgrade to a luxury room which they would pay extra for, but we were completely full and could not accommodate their request. I did say however to speak direct with me if they were to book again and I would offer them a discount on a luxury room next time.

To then make up a disgruntled list of petty things, because of their mistake in the first place of not booking and paying for a luxury room is not fair. However, I will answer the negative points raised on our Haddon Suite as follows:
• The Haddon Suite is the oldest part of Bagshaw Hall dating back to around 1620.
• I’m not sure what “it felt odd” means other than perhaps the guest was expecting a standard Premier Inn room, having booked a standard room.
• The windows are at high level and therefore have blackout roller blinds which close by hand and have a speckled fabric finish.
• The soundproofing has not been commented on for the previous 10 years we have been open for business.
• The room has 3 large radiators and a heated towel rail in the en-suite shower room and is therefore never cold unless you switch everything off!
• How can the guest say a room is “not by any means expensive” and then at the same time say the room is “overpriced”. This is not branded as a luxury room, it is a standard room as previously stated by this guest when they booked through booking.com.
• The final comment that the bed was comfortable is a good point to end on.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the building very beautiful and the rooms comfortable. But they let themselves down as our room was the basement garden room which has low ceilings which were not told about and the wc is a saniflo (pumped away) which comes with a list of rules and a notice you may be charged if for any reason it becomes blocked. Also shower door didn’t close properly and kept coming open while in shower. They advertise Wi-fi but we couldn’t get it in our room.

Room Tip: If you are over 6ft tall beware garden room has low ceilings

We are pleased Paul found Bagshaw Hall very beautiful and the rooms comfortable.
I am 6’ 2” tall and don’t find the 7’ 6” high ceiling to be too low.

The Garden Room Suite has the major advantage of an outside door leading directly out to the front garden and terrace areas.

The en-suite shower room had to be on a commercial Saniflow pump due to it being located on the lower ground floor. The notice not to block the toilet is as a result of some guests not understanding and putting wipes down the toilet which blocks the pump resulting in an expensive call out to the plumber.

We shall check the shower door to make sure it closes.

We have multiple wi-fi boosters located throughout the hall to make sure the wi-fi signal reaches every room, despite the exceptionally thick walls of the 350-year-old listed building to keep up with modern technology for our guests. We also have a lounge where guests can access the internet and work or relax.

Stayed in the Sleep Lodge adjoining Bagshaw Hall. Very comfortable. Dining room provided extra space. Comfy bed, hot hot water, power shower, controllable heating, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, well equipped kitchen. Andrew is a sweetheart. Very obliging. Only downside is outdoor lighting. Various steps, uneven ground and puddles make it perilous walking to car park. We are assured this is being rectified. If so, all good.
