I went here for dinner during the week and I feel one of the things that shows a great restaurant is when there are quite a few people there mid week. The building is lovely with lots of character, the staff are friendly and not intrusive but seem to be there when you want them and are knowledgable about the dishes on the menu. The food was marvellous and the portion sizes are large. Next time I will skip the starter so I can try the desserts they looked lovely. All in all a fantastic evening and meal out.

Thank Susan D

Had heard some good things about Johnsons Steakhouse so thought we would give it a go - Was recommended to try the Sirloin Steak and we weren't disappointed - I could honestly say it was one of the best steaks I have ever had - would definitely go there again :-)

Being vegetarian in the farmlands of Cambridgeshire is not exactly fun I'd almost given up on finding a restaurant that makes an effort with vegetarian food. Yes Johnson's of Old Hurst focuses on their home grown meat but if you can overlook the "hunting theme" of the decor in the restaurant (nothing gross, just guns on the walls), you can find a few superb vegetarian gems.

We've been there twice now and both times had outstanding meals (totally different meals both times.............other vegetarians will appreciate how nice it is to have more than one choice on a menu) both times.

The portions are huge, food is delicious, decor is nice, bathrooms are immaculate and attractive and the staff are excellent.

The Scones and Carrot Cake are to die for! This place gets packed on the weekends and on school holidays so I would avoid during those times as the service is slow and the tables do not get cleaned off as quick as they should.

That being said, the bad things about this place could never take away how amazing their baked goods are- totally worth the trip.
