Along with friends, and pre-booked and pre-ordered, met for a Xmas lunch. Once our order found the service was very good and the food hot, tasty and delicious with generous portions. My duck terrine starter was particularly good, everyone enjoyed the traditional turkey breast dish as main course along with the Xmas pudding that followed. Comfortable surroundings and pleasant atmosphere and would go again. At some £35 including set meal cost, drinks, wine and coffee this was good value.

Visited here for 4 of us for dinner, we had booked an early table 7.30. Had a drink at the bar and were shown to our table with no fuss. The restaurant was a busy, and the staff could have been a little more attentive, but food was timely and very tasty. We are vegetarians and their was plenty of choice. Food overall was very good. Wine choice was not exhaustive, and some a little expensive.
The owners may consider a nice inexpensive sweet wine for the lovely deserts they do, not a Sauternes or anything too expensive. Drinks here are a little expensive overall, but this is an eating establishment.

Overall enjoyed and would go again.

We went to the Red Lion yesterday for Sunday Lunch. I have been to this place many times before and always enjoyed the atmosphere.
When we arrived there was no one to greet us - eventually someone appeared and took as to what has to be the worst table in the restaurant; dark and dingy with a view of a really untidy area by the kitchen. We booked last minute so didn't say anything as the place was busy. You need to put some more lighting in this bit though and tidy up that mess!
Our food arrived quickly which was a positive. However the meat was tough and fatty, the potatoes tasted awful and they forgot the stuffing on two of the dishes. My daughters meal of chicken fingers was tough and with a side salad more appropriate for an adult - spiralised carrots and spinach leaves for a three year old?
The dessert was good though.

When we came to leave my husband realised there were marks all over my coat - the plaster is coming off the walls behind the table and my coat had been brushing against it on the back of my chair. The waitress was there and she couldn't have cared less. My husband used a baby wipe to try and get it all off!

This place used to be lovely but needs some serious cleaning and a strong manager to bring it back to what it used to be. I don't think we will go back as there are many other nice places in the area.

My wife’s 70th booked for lunch just the two of us, arrived had to stand and wait for nearly 20 mins, eventually the barman took us to our reserved which was not prepared , dirty plates and glasses was not even wiped with a clean cloth. The joints around the table top were full as usual with bread crumbs.

We asked for a pre lunch drink had to wait for a further 20 mins

We placed our order had to wait 30 mins so all the waiting time and we had no service.

The Brie turned up cold and also my mushroom dish arrived cold and with a soaked watery piece of bread it was foul .

Belly of pork ordered mine has the scallops the were burnt and I was charged £4.00 also the cracklin was not edible
Deserts appalling
The place has gone down hill service -10 food -10

Took my daughter and family out for her 17th birthday. what a disappointment that was.

2 family members had the £12.95 homemade burger. average in taste.

3 had the battered cod and chips. which 1 was wet inside and brown. which my daughter didn't want to eat, it just looked like a cheap piece of fish. not chunky cod portion as it should be.

the wife had mozzarella pizza and rocket which was ok ish. average. id just been in Europe and had stone fired pizza for £6.50 euros and it would knock that into cock hats. a proper pizza as good as it gets. if you are paying nearly top middle prices you expect better. my daughters friend had diablo pizza which was a ok. and the rest of the family. had spit roast chicken which looked nice. but the chips came out cold.

the toilets at the public house are dirty. the sinks are all dirty. it says a lot about a place.i normally eat here at least 4 to 5 times a year. and normally its great food, with the chefs serving great food, talented there were. WHATS HAPPENED. the place has gone down hill big time. its not the middle class pub that it used to be. the area is very affluent. and the clients exspect better.i don't know what gone wrong change of management and chefs perhaps. but its not the lovely place it used to be,
