I stayed here as a relatively late booking for a works event in the town.

There was lots of free parking, and when I arrived I was checked in very quickly by the ladies on the front counter. The room was on the main rd side of the hotel, but when you were in there you could not tell as there was very little noise. The room looked as if it had recently been done up and was modern looking and very clean. Free Wifi also which is a bonus.

I joined some customers who were already at the hotel in the decked area outside for a few beers and we also came back to the hotel late at night and were very well looked after.

I did not eat at here but it appeared very popular and judging by the size of the desserts that some people had the portion sizes looked quite impressive. I will use this hotel again when I am down on business in the area.

This hotel is good in many ways: super helpful staff, efficient wifi in rooms & a large car park. Well located for railway station and a 15 minute downhill walk into town. Buses stop outside. Rooms are adequate, but don't expect a view, as many of them overlook the car park. Breakfast was terrible. The pre-cooked buffet food looked greasy and unappetising. The boiled eggs I ordered arrived with liquid whites and raw yolks. After that, we couldn't face breakfast there again, so we went elsewhere. Dinner menu did not appeal, so we did not eat there, but others might like it.

We booked the County Arms Hotel in Truro online less than a week before we travelled due to many options being unavailable on such short notice. We utilised our room as a base from which to explore Cornwall and really didn't require anything special.

The hotel is situated on a fairly busy street within walking distance of a large Sainsbury's grocery store, but the area is mostly residential. Check-in was quick with no fanfare. We were given room number 32 on the first floor, which is on the back of the hotel, so comparatively quiet. Our window looked directly onto part of the back car park and part of a play area. The distant view, however, was pleasant countryside with the odd bunny or two and a small herd of cows. There was a train running though this idyllic scene on occasion, but we hardly noticed as it was relatively quiet and we were rarely in the room anyhow. The decor was very basic, but was clean and stocked with some toiletries, a hair dryer, coffee and tea making facilities and bottled water. An iron and ironing board were available on request. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows less so, making us wish we'd brought our own.

Customer service varied from friendly to bland depending on who was at the front desk. Housekeeping was kind enough to replenish a few items when we asked as we didn't bother having our room cleaned during our brief stay.

The hotel has an average restaurant/pub attached to it with "order at the bar" service. We took advantage of it on our first night purely for convenience purposes. It was quite acceptable, and certainly fit for purpose if you want a bevy after a long day.

We feel the price was a little steep considering the lack of amenities offered with this hotel, but that may be due to the time of year we stayed and the fact that it is in Cornwall.

While this hotel did what it said on the tin, given more lead time, we will probably try to find a place with more amenities that is walkable to local restaurants and shops on our next visit to Cornwall.

What a delight!! Firstly the room was modern, extremely clean and well presented. The bed although might be a little soft to others was actually perfect compared to a lot of bed I've stayed in where I can feel the springs in the mattress. Bathroom towels were bouncey soft. Couldn't fault the room. Breakfast is basic and needs improvement.

Stayed here for two nights mid week. The room was nice, clean and reasonably well appointed. Air conditioning works and not obtrusive. Dinner is basic mass market staples, including burgers, fish and chips etc and of reasonable quality and price. The disappointment was the breakfast, which costs £8.50 per day on top of the room cost and uninspiring. The sausages were like rubber, the fried eggs worse, the bacon undercooked. Everything in the buffet servers was dried up and looked like breakfast had finished and that was what was left but it only got topped up after the shrivelled offerings had all been taken. We had the amusing spectacle of watching three fat travellers, who were not staying at the hotel helping themselves to enormous platefuls of food and then coming back for a second helping, so somebody enjoyed it.

Room tip: Double room is a twin with beds pushed together and a single duvet. Huge bed.
