“The perfect place for a break away with friends and family”
Reviewed 18 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We have just spent a wonderful 5 days here. Everything was fantastic, the location, the house, the facilities. It was perfect for a break away with friends. The owners Regine and Jean-Pierre were lovely, they couldn't have been more helpful to us. They gave us some great ideas about where to visit and they have really thought of everything you might need to make a great holiday. We would definitely recommend a visit here. Thank you!

“An Excellent base to explore this part of France”
Reviewed 10 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a lovely family holiday here, the owners Régine and Jean-Pierre were very helpful and knowledgeable on all the attractions that can be found in this corner of France. They also speak very good english. There isn't much more that can be said that hasn't already been written in the previous reviews. Amazing weather and the good sized pool was very welcoming after a long day of sightseeing. The property is also situated about 40mins away between two good swimming lakes with beaches (Lac de Montbel near Léran & Lac de la Cavayère near Carcassonne). The WiFi was good as well if needed. Next time I think we need to stay 2 weeks to fit everything in that there is to do!

“Wonderful holiday location”
Reviewed 29 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Buscail is a fabulous place for a holiday. The house itself has been beautifully renovated, is extremely well equipped and has been decorated and furnished throughout with style and thoughtful attention to detail.. There weren't any photos of the bedrooms when we looked but they are beautiful and comfortable too - huge, with high ceilings and sensational views across the flower and veg filled garden to the snow capped Pyrenees beyond. The garden and grounds are vast, well-tended and the pool was a very pleasing 30 degrees when we were there in June thanks to the cover.

The owners are extremely welcoming and kind and are genuinely concerned to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as they can.

Buscail is surrounded by stunning countryside and has many places of interest should you wish to venture out. Of particular note for us were the giddying heights of the chateau de Peyrepetuse and the nearby hermitage de Galamus, the 'underground' church at Vals, Mirepoix and its main square, Rennes le chateau, and the pretty villages of Alet les Bains and Camon - not forgetting the approach and the walk round the ramparts of Carcassonne.

We have no hesitation in recommending Buscail!

“A little slice of heaven in the Aude countryside”

We were lucky enough to enjoy 2 weeks at the wonderful Domaine de Buscail. At about 40 minutes from Carcasonne, the gite is brilliantly placed to explore the Cathar sites of the Aude region. If you can tear yourself away from the glorious surroundings of the house that is! The pyrenees greet you in the distance as you look out, as do trees, wild flowers, vineyards, sunflower fields and fruit trees.

The house has been decorated in a modern/contemporary style which is a really refreshing change to the traditional dark style you expect in France. There's everything you need to prepare light meals and enjoy either inside or outside. The lounge area is modest in size if there were 4 adults in for the night, but you really do spend every last available minute outside, so it's well judged.

The owners Régine and Jean-Pierre live on site in a separate house, and they are always there for anything you need but you really feel like you have your own space when you want it. We have never had such warm and generous hosts, they truly made our stay special.

Buscail is the most wonderful place to rest and recharge your batteries. For two worn out Londoners, the change of pace and nature reminded us of life's simple pleasures. Time has no meaning there, you can sleep for as long as you like, read all day, and go for walks around the fields. We also loved driving to various places in the region as it is so full of rich heritage and beautiful villages. There are lots of leaflets to help you plan your excursions in the gite which is another really nice touch.

Our absolute must-visits while there are: Mirepoix for its picture perfect medieval buildings and colourful church, Peyrepertuse Castle for heart stopping heights as you climb the castle that is built into the mountain ridge, and of course Carcassonne medieval city for something straight out of Disneyland and great spots to sit and people watch.

The local Malpére wine is really excellent, and I'm sure it tastes even better as you drink it next to the very vineyards that the grapes are grown!

We cannot recommend Buscail highly enough for anyone wanting a tranquil, authentic French countryside experience.
