Had a lovely day recently on a hen party in this party. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Newly decorated.

We drove pasted a sign saying something like 'We're open and look forward to welcoming you'. However, when we got up there the pub was closed. There was nothing I could see outside that said the opening hours so cannot even recommend when would be a good time to visit.

Saw signs for this pub and decided to head for an adventure. The road there seemed like it was 20 miles but it was probably only 9 miles of narrow winding awesomeness. The higher we got the more the fog rolled in. It was quintessential Ireland. When we got there the pub looked closed but the door was unlocked so we went in. The owners were cleaning up from a wedding party the night before. While they weren't officially open we were invited in and poured a pint. They didn't serve food at the time we visited but indicated that they were working on opening up a kitchen.

Sign at end of road said 'business as usual' but we drove all the way up in a campervan to find that the place was closed - with no sign in the window or nothing, There was signs of life but no-one came to speak to us.

The highest pub in Ireland is worth a visit/detour. Between Killarney and Cork, just outside of Macroom is this lovely local pub out in the middle of nowhere at the top of
winding road. Once inside enjoy a friendly pint of Guinness and a game of darts and/or
billiards. Nice place.
