We booked Hotel Luna Azul on the basis of being close to Ostional and turtle paradise. But there is SO much more to appreciate and enjoy by staying here.
We arrived a little earlier than check in time but it was no problem and we were quickly settled into our room.
Rolf gave us excellent advice on the turtles, local beaches for snorkelling, boat trips (and booked one for us) and overall just great advice, from a great host.
The hotel is lovely and one can really appreciate the subtlety and empathy to the local surroundings. The buildings really do blend in and in tune with nature. One day we went out on a boat trip (spotted dolphins, stingrays and turtles) but also got to view our hotel from a different angle and really understand the attention to detail and conservation that Rolf has achieved with this property.
The hotel also boasts a great restaurant. The dinner menu is outstanding and breakfast was a treat each morning.
My husband and I will return and we will stay for longer - we stayed for only 2 nights on a 28 night tour around Costa Rica, but our experience staying here is up there in the favourites.
Rolf really understands his guests and delivers an outstanding holiday experience.
