“Great pool and lovely hosts”
Reviewed 21 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We were looking for a gite in the Loire valley with a heated swimming pool in mid-October. We were happy to find Les Mortiers, since it was hard to find accommodation with a pool open still in October. The pool really met our requirements and the water temperature was very comfortable.

We stayed at the Grange where there was enough space for our four-person group. Also the kitchen was well-equipped. Since the weather was a bit cool, we didn’t use the garden much. But when we did, we really felt like being in the countryside when the horses and ducks were walking behind the fence. Nice change for urban life! If you stay at the Grange during a cold period, it is good to know that there is a fireplace for heating up the main radiators. So, be prepared to add wood logs into the burn to keep the indoor temperature warm.

We really enjoyed our one week stay in the beautiful and calm Loire valley and visiting many of the amazing castles in the area. There are so many of them, that this was really only a start for us, even though I’ve been in the area before. You really need a car here to see & experience as much as possible!

If you appreciate friendly hosts, this is your choice. Thank you Jean and Mike for your kindness!

A lovely review and we were delighted to meet you. Our first guests from Finland! We were so sorry that the water supply to the village was cut off one morning and caused everyone some inconvenience.

“Great child-friendly gite with fabulous pool and lovely owners”

We spent a fantastic week in the Grange, Les Mortiers, at the end of June/beginning of July with our 16-month-old daughter. The accommodation was excellent - well-equipped kitchen, comfy bed, fans and air conditioning unit (we arrived in the middle of a heatwave) - the pool was glorious and the location was a great base for visiting the Loire (especially the vineyards and chateaux).

But what really made the holiday stand out was the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the hosts, Jean and Mike, and all the small touches that made the holiday special, from the welcome basket on arrival with homemade jam to all the advice on places to go and things to see.

It was also perfect for a family holiday - the "child friendly pack" meant that all our daughter's needs were catered for, not only in terms of the obvious things such as cots and high chairs but also black-out blinds in the bedroom, a toddler-sized swing and even a baby paddling pool to cool her toes in the heat. Best of all, in her view, was the chicken house by the side of the garden and being able to watch the chickens being fed and the eggs collected (and then eaten - delicious!)

We had a wonderful time and are very much looking forward to going back.

“Wonderfully relaxing”

Despite supplying us with different weather (which unfortunately even Jean and Mike cannot guarantee), there isn't any improvement I can think of for our stay in Le Grenier at Les Mortiers.
A wonderfully warm welcome awaited us and despite making it clear that they are there to help with any questions, we didn't need to ask them for anything because they have thought of everything!
The heated, covered pool was essential for our six-year-old and we all thoroughly enjoyed using it!
The gite, albeit cozy, is more than comfortable for a small family (we are a family of 2 adults and 1 child). The double room has a lovely high loft ceiling. Super, high quality bed-linen and towels provided were very welcome. The kids room is small but as they only sleep in there, it is more than adequate. Our daughter did enjoy playing in there too! The kitchen and bathroom are excellent - modern and extremely well-equipped. They have everything you need should you wish to feed yourselves at the gite during your stay. Comfortable sitting/dining room with lots of books, games and even the TV (UK freeview) should you feel the need. However, I think the overwhelming sense of beauty and calm of the place, together with the very thoughtful welcome pack (plus other things included like BBQ lighting equipment, potty and trainer seat for young kids, pegs, cleaning products etc) make it so easy to relax and enjoy your time away from home. We visited Langeais (chateau is FAB for kids as it has a huge park with plenty to keep them entertained) and had an amazing meal at the 'Au Coin Des Halles' as we felt like pushing the boat out after eating at the gite for most of our stay. Also, we enjoyed time at a wine salon in the stunning town of Bourgueil, which even in the rain, was really lovely to walk around. Highly recommend this for anyone wishing to relax and enjoy some family time.

“Great Gite, Great Location”
Reviewed 6 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Les Mortiers was a perfect base to explore the lovely Loire region. It is well equipped and very clean and comfortable. Owners Jean and Mike are friendly and welcoming. and everything you could possibly need for a good holiday seems to be provided, right down to the fresh eggs and wine in the welcome basket. Winter was fast approaching when we were there and so the wood burner was wonderful to come back to after a day exploring the local chateaux (I think that is the plural?), plus there was the incentive to burn off a few croissant calories in the large and heated swimming pool or on the push bikes..
The bedrooms are very comfortable and characterful, with high quality linen, and the kitchen has all you need to self-cater, although Jean and Mike can recommend a very good restaurant!
Parcay-Les-Pins has a resaonable village shop but there are larger supermarkets not too far away. The 'sights' such as Saumur, Chinon, Fontevraud etc are within easy reach, as are the many 'caves' along the Loire Valley to stock up on wonderful red and rose wines.
We had a delightful stay at Les Mortiers and so would recommend it to anyone.

No more whistling as we have found a solution! (The bathroom keys were removed to prevent children locking themselves inas The Grange is often booked by families with small children )

“Superb and relaxing”

Jean and Mike are the most welcoming hosts that you could find. The property itself is fully and delightfully furnished and has all mod cons. to add to the enjoyment of your stay. The surrounding countryside is most attractive with the delights of the Loire Valley nearby.
