This converted signalbox was formerly located at Wymondham. It is cosy and comfortable: ideal for romantic rail enthusiasts! It is decorated with railwayana and there is a disused railway line (the Midland and Great Northern) nearby. It is close to Melton Constable which was once an important railway junction. However, there is little evidence of the railway remaining. The signalbox is well placed for the North Norfolk Railway at Holt. Nature reserves such as Titchwell and Cley are within easy travelling distance. There are public footpaths by the cottage.
Storage in the kitchen/living room is very limited so don't stock up with a week's supply of food! However, there are good quality farm shops nearby which can provide you with fresh produce.
This is a transported signal box almost adjacent to a disused railway line so it has lots of character. Sitting area and kitchen are upstairs and the bedroom is underneath. It's well-equipped and comfortable and if you have questions the hosts live on the site. On the map it looks quite long way inland but there are easy routes to all the coastal destinations avoiding the slog of the coast roads. The area was quiet even on an August bank holiday. There are good local walks. You need a car and, personally, I think you would have to be quite fit to benefit from hiring a bike - this bit of Norfolk is not as flat as some people make out. Anyway, it's a great place to stay and highly recommended.
