We went on a private tour with Malcolm from D-Day Tours of Normandy in early January of 2025, and... read more
We throughly enjoyed our tour. Malcolm was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of D-Day. Plus, he was a delight to tour with. We hit all of the sights in the American zone that were on my list. I am a WW2 history buff and I learned a great deal during our day. If you want an enjoyable day with deep immersion into the history of Overlord, Malcolm is your man!
Absolutely an amazing day with Malcolm exploring the American beaches and other sites. Malcolm is a wealth of information and in general just a lovely person to spend a day with. I appreciated not only the breadth of the information he had but the depth. The individual stories he was able to share really made the experience more meaningful for my husband and I. I enjoyed trading book recommendations with Malcolm and talking about World War One as well. He had so many suggestions for ways to engage with the local history.
Every glowing review on here is well deserved and you would be missing out if you did not schedule a tour with him. I would also add that you must have the picnic lunch - his wife is an excellent cook and the food was fantastic (hopefully he will have cinnamon apple cake and quiche for you!). If you can book more than one day to really enjoy your time and see more, I would recommend (I wish we had been able to do that).
Malcolm was an excellent tour guide.
He was knowledgeable, listened to what we wanted to do and clearly knew his way around the area.
He was also good company and sense of humour.
The little places off the beaten track he showed us were the cherry on top.
Thanks Malcolm
I’m still amazed at the amount of touring we were able to accomplish in one long day with Malcolm. It otherwise probably would have taken us three whole days to cover the US sites and without the benefit of Malcolm’s encyclopedic knowledge of D-day. Malcolm brings the events of the D-day landings to life in vivid detail but without being overly technical or confusing. All of the communication leading up to the tour was flawless and we appreciated being picked up at our hotel in Bayeux. Do not miss the homemade picnic lunch prepared by Malcolm’s wife Alison—just delicious. I can’t recommend Malcolm as guide highly enough. You’d be lucky to have this amazing and highly moving experience with him.
I have nothing unique to add to the well-deserved glowing reviews Malcolm has rightfully earned except to say that as a family of mixed levels of historical knowledge and interest, he managed to reach and intrigue us all. One of our teens felt it was a massive highlight in his life and the other, who had no interest going in, managed to listen and learn and enjoy the day. I feel so fortunate we could have Malcolm bring history to life in a multitude of ways that we could never get elsewhere. Our goal now is to do another tour with him. He is top notch and a very kind and interesting man as well.
Malcolm provided an exceptional and enlightening tour of the American cemetery and the battlefields and beaches of the Normandy invasion for liberty. It was a privilege to spend the day with Malcolm and share his infectious passion for the region’s WWII military history. We, especially, were enthralled by the tales Malcolm told of individual soldiers on that fateful day, regardless of rank, and their personal acts of bravery and selfless contributions to the cause of freedom. So many times during our day together, other tourists stopped to listen intently to Malcolm and compliment him on his enthusiastic presentations, obviously jealous of our good fortune in having Malcolm for us. And Alison's picnic lunch that we enjoyed in Malcolm's warm car (Mercedes) on a raw and blustery day was a delicious and welcome interlude in the tour.
