A steep walk (or drive) from the town is rewarded with great, panoramic views and a fantastic choice of mouth-watering cakes! So you will not regret the climb. The well-stocked bar also offers a good choice of Scotch whisky.

Room Tip: Booka room with a view over the town.

I stayed here last year for a business conference at the nearby Dolce.
As previously stated, it's quirky without a reception team, and it revolves around the view and the meals served to visitors.

The view is fabulous, and you can understand why visitors drop in for lunch or coffee. Personally, after a hard days work, I enjoy a relaxing run through the woodland trails and down and up the hill to build up an appetite for their excellent food. I ate in various hotels and restaurants during my stay, but would rather have eaten at the Johannisberg.

again, what I saw of the staff were all professional and friendly, despite my appalling grasp of the german language.

A really really good and enjoyable hotel. I'm already booked to stay there again this year.
thanks to all there

Room Tip: the views from the front are excellent

Johannisberg is perched on the top of the hill looking out over the Bad Nauheim valley to the distant hills. So, a little out - and a long way up - from the town centre. But the calm, and views from the terrace, are worth it.

Although the building is old [19th century], the whole place was re-done in the 1920's/1930's in pure - and beautifully done - bauhaus style. Every fitting is absolutely in period, and of the highest quality. An architectural wet dream!

The rooms are large. Town views ''Stadtausblick'' are dearer than the forest view rooms at the back.

The restaurant is good. High quality food, including a very fine and copious breakfast. Well and attentively served. Not cheap.

Service is generally good - if slightly disorganised because the whole place is run from the kitchen 'front of house'. There is no hotel reception as such. But the maitre de/head chef/owner/manager/whatever is a real character, and very helpful.

Overall, an idiosyncratic and very well worthwhile experience!

Room Tip: The 'Stadtausblick' rooms are worth the extra.
